This might be debated over some time or it might be over fairly quickly but... as the poll indicates - I want to find out which contrast works better for people when viewing websites...if you have anything else to add please say as much...

LoD 0wnz all!
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

LoD is better, DoL is too bright for my liking. LoD is better on the eyes.

  • What is this? I don't even...
Either works for me, so long as it isnt a white background. Too harsh. Light gray is fine though...

Ummm...it totally depends on what the mood and style of the site is.  There is no better or worse (provided that contrasts and balance are setup properly) in this case.

I feel white on black is used way too much on webpages these days... It was good at first, but now... No. Also, try printing a page like that. Printer bypasses the background colour to save ink, and you get... A white page.
So, my suggestion:

Those are supposed to be amber...

Edit: or else I'll use this colour scheme for all my posts :p

I'm ready to be whipped ;7

Anyway, as Icefire said it really depends on the mood of the pages. People usually think LoD is cool, but I must say that DoL can be as nice as LoD, if done right.

(light gray background for example with some mild "bumb mapping" looks extremely nice IMHO  I know... because I use that theme quite much :D And then black or other dark coloured text (dark blue for ex.) and voila, you have a wepbage "theme" which is simple but has style ;) )
Habeeb it...

I say DoL because that's what I use for any of my programs. When i use light colors on dark it really pains my eyes. (i hate all those IRC clients that use black backs and gray text...)

Ok, thanks to everyone for their input - thread unstuck since it's no longer highly important and I've completed what I wanted to do. Again - thanks

To tell the truth, DoL annoys me to no end, especially since I am usually on the computer in the nights and the bright background in darkness really starts to hurt my eyes after a while. :p:D
