Please use the "$" marker when setting directive keypress text. That way, what is shown in the mission directives box is modified according to key mappings.

Directive keypress text of "Press Alt-J" yields "Press Alt-J."

Directive keypress text of "Press $Alt-J$" yields "Press R" (for me, since I remapped "R" to jump out).


Very simple to do, but saves a world of pain for those of us who have extensively remapped keys. Otherwise, I have to dig through the original keymappings to figure out what I remapped "Alt-A" to (for example). Thanks!

I believe you can also use the dollar sign ($) to remap keypresses in training directives.

Very handy if (for instance) you're doing RPG-style dialogue selection using the number keys.

I knew about the keystroke thing, but $callsign is news to me... I first noticed it used in TVWP... is it a since-retail thing?

In briefings (usually for training missions), if you set a ship or wing to "player fighter/bomber (wing)", it will display their callsign next to the icon instead of the given text... it's accomplishing similar things through different means.

But i learned about $callsign by opening up a retail tech-based mission, i'm sure i've seen it somewhere before....
