!Important! anything and everything
Okay people as you may or may not know I've been trying to assemble a rememberance shrine for the late VBB. So will everybody send all bits and pieces of the VBB that they have gathered? That is: account names, post numbers, screenshots, the pages themselves etc.

Please send to [email protected]

Additionally I'm requesting that everybody who wants to, write their last words  (impressions, thoughts, goodbyes, sorries, thank yous etc.) Send 'em all to the address above. (or post here if you're lazy)
Also any last questions for the Volition interview should be posted

Thank You :)

I'm surpised.

I always thought that the death of the VBB resulted in patrys, beer, and fun. Instead it seems like it's a funeral.

Edit: Dont put that on the shrine.;)
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

It's a tribute to the memories *cough* that we had there and anything else. I mean, it used to be good... (in 1999)

Anyway it's not like the Shrine's some kind of sad place that I'll post endless lamentations ;)

That's because although many people hate the trolls over there, they still remember the Golden Age and with the destruction of the VBB, it means that the official FS era is now over. Only we are here to carry on the tradition...;)
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".

"Well, I suppose it's time for me to write my farewell to the VBB. I sit here, wondering whether the board will cease to exist even as I am typing this message.
Looking back, I can see I have not been the most well-known member in the community, nor the most influential.
I don't know when or how, but when I saw Freespace-I knew it was a quality game. It was as if I had suddenly been able to see the game, inside and out. Despite this, it was never a screaming for attention, but rather like a faint connection.
The first time I saw Freespace 2, I was amazed, and firmly decided to get Freespace 1. When I did, I found it to be one of the most fleshed-out games I've ever played. It was truly a dream come true.
For some reason, I never completed Freespace 1 until I got Freespace 2. I played nearly an entire weekend, once.
When I did get Freespace 2, I finished it. Then I finished Freespace 1. Suddenly, I found myself having exhausted all the information Freespace 1 and 2 had to offer.
So I joined the VBB.
The VBB was not the first bulletin board I had joined, but it was certainly foreign. For a while I didn't know what bumping was. I just quietly joined, welcomed a few people, and posted some of my opinions.
When the VBB's reasonable topics began to die down slightly, I posted one post at VWBB, then went back to the VBB. Finally, I viewed the HLPBB. It was interesting, but it took me a while to finally register and post. If I recall correctly, the first post I made was not-to-be, with Internet Explorer crashing my elaborate tutorial on using VPView. Despte that, I repsted, with a slightly less detailed but nonetheless helpful post. Then I found myself posting more and more, until I found that I rarely checked the VBB anymore. When I did check it, I was greatly saddened to find it overrun by flaming.
At HLP, I soon became one of the multitude of posters, standing out very few times. When HLP upgraded, I had happened apon the GIMP and made the official welcome image, though it was removed a week after its addition to the emoticon gallery. To this day, the image is still in use by myself and a few others to welcome those from the VBB.
Finally, I learned that the VBB was shutting down, and I remembered a game I had once played where the loss of the largest site and its forum had struck a crippling blow never recovered from. I returned to the VBB, and immediately began posting links to HLP. Many Freespace and Freespace 2 posters began to show up at the VWBB and the HLPBB, but time was running out. And it still is. Several minutes have passed while I wrote this message, many ticks from the clock that is counting down to the end of the VBB. The shut down of the VBB has brought many players back to the Freespace community, if only for a little while, but it has driven others off. For those of you that remain and have not yet joined the HLPBB or theVWBB, do it. The Freespace community has taken a great blow, but it can recover. Already there is talk of a project to revive the Freespace community on the Hard Light Productions Board, a project that could pave the way for the long-awaited Freespace 3.
Now I continue my task of directing those to the remaining Freespace forums.
This is WMCoolmon, of M:101, bidding you all farewell."

EDIT:Make sure you check out this thread

[walks up solemnly to shrine]

[tearfully places a small bag on top of shrine]

[walks off, sniffling slightly]

[decides he doesn't really need mention what's in the bag, all of you knowing what I'd tend towards, anyhow]

Came to the VBB. Made HLP. Left the VBB. Open-and-shut case. :D (Oh, yeah, stuff happened along the way, too, but nothing you'd like to know about... most of it is food-related.)
- Eddie Kent Woo, Setekh, Steak (of Steaks), AWACS. Seriously, just pick one.
HARD LIGHT PRODUCTIONS, now V3.0. Bringing Modders Together since January 2001.
THE HARD LIGHT ARRAY. Always makes you say wow.

I never looked back at the VBB where they gave me my nicknames.

I deinitely have the highest number of edited posts there (or on any board on whcih I am registered, for that matter, including this one); I almost always find some spelling or grammar error in my post, or something that I wanted to add in but forgot as soon as the post appears in the topic, and so I immediately go off to edit it. :D (if it is possible for admins to see what posts have been edited and how many times, check mine out on this forum :D)

Lol, I have also edited quite many of my posts at the VBB. Also, you didn't edit that one, even if it had a spalling error. ;)

I actually ended up editing that one as well (forgot a comma so I added that in, but I think I missed the "definitely" misspelling :p:D), but the vB apparently does not show the "edited by [username]" thing at the bottom if the edit is done within a few minutes of the initial posting. ;)

[edit] I just edited this post with an extra word. :p (I guess I'm just a nut with editing :D)

[edit] one more edit, needed another word

[edit] noticed a misspelling
