I used to play Football (six years, quit two years ago), used to be on the Track and Field team (two years, quit this year), used to play Soccer (or football, if you live in Europe.  5-6 years, quit before high school started), and am still in all kinds of academic 'sports.'

Snuffalupagus, I do did all.

I'm not really doing any sort of physical activity to speak of at the moment, other than trying to get myself motivated to get back into regular Wii Fit usage.  I used to play tennis in high school, but it's been several years since I've done so regularly; then again, I am getting my racket re-strung this week, so we'll see what happens.

Indoor soccer, weights, elliptical and when the weather is good running.  But despite this semi-impressive list I don't always do these every week.  I need to be more disciplined.

I do just calisthenics once every other day for an hour. Then my friends ended up giving me all these free weights i can use. Enough of them piled up that i gave into them.

Enough of the snow up here melted so i'm back to my 14 plus miles a day on bike. Bikes are really fun especially when you have an infinite supply at your local transfer station free for the taking.

I'm not a big fan of running as i am of walking and biking, but i can run a 5:30 average mile time. Once did 5:08, never wanted to do that again as it was plenty unpleasurable. But seriously, **** running.

I want to get a bowflex. You get fantastic results with the resistance exercising it has in a short amount of time. The more you use it over time, the more amazing the results. I got enough free weights that i'm voting with my wallet for the bowflex.

A good question to ask is what are the reasons for working out for people that do? I do it because i like to, for myself, stay healthy, i like looking ripped, and it's a great to utilize my child hood like energy.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

Ironicly that this thread pops up now...I just started excercising a bit yesterday :P

I'm turning into a couch potato, which is bad, especially given my physique (I have a few body builder aquaintances, who said they wish they had my basic body build)

I need mhoar excercise...I really do.

The only reason I have for working out is to feel less heavy mentally. I'm not that heavy physically, but my brain likes to expend resources thinking about things that even I don't know about.

My primary is (or was i guess is more accurate) soccer.  That's football for snail.  I've been a goalkeeper since I could walk almost.  Haven't been able to play at the organised level since high school.  I try to make it out to the uni fields for pickup, but time is hard to come by these days.  I'm rather pissed my mom never let me play club.  I know this sounds arrogant, but I could have easily played collegiate.  Some of the varsity players turn up for pickup every now and again, and I can hang with them pretty easily.  I've flat out embarassed one of them :D.  From there, who knows.  

Now the only organised sport I play is Australian Rules Football with the NC Tigers, a team in the USAFL.  (For the aussies reading this who are now wondering who my AFL squad is, it's Western ;))  I play just about any kind of pickup sport except basketball.  The one sport I'm truly horrible at, I pick up most others pretty well.  Ultimate frisbee is something of a regular, occasional American football.  I'm in a rockclimbing class now, and I've previously done fencing, archery and volleyball.  I used to waterski and I wakeboarded a bit, but it's been a long time since that.  The few times I get to go to a beach, I skimboard non-stop until my feet feel like they are broken.  Lots of other little one-off stuff here and there like skiing/snowboarding that I don't get to do often.  A couple weeks ago, they had a ball hockey tournament on campus sponsored by the Carolina Hurricanes.  That was a lot of fun.  I suited up and took the net.  For not having ever done that before (and playing against our club ice hockey team) I'd call it a success.

seconded.  The place I play sometimes is even smaller than usual, 5v5 plus keepers.  The fields are tiny, they have a dumbass rule that restricts me to a box that's not much larger than the crease on an NHL rink, and everyone who plays there (including myself :P) is washed-up and like to make themselves feel like they still have it by playing way too seriously for pickup soccer and blasting point blank shots into my scrotum as hard as they can :?

What?  It's literally the only thing I've found thus far that gets me remotely motivated to work out on a semi-regular basis. It's this principle in action. Without it, I'd essentially just sit at my computer all day.

Competitive big mountain skiing (plus a metric **** tonne of recreational backcountry skiing and park and stuff), freeride and downhill mountain biking, some wakeboarding and wakeskating, indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, track and field and running and weights for injury prevention and to stay fit.

I hate sports because every single one is about competition. And if they aren't, there's always plenty of self-righteous elitist faggots that ruin it for me just when I try to get into it.

Likewise, I skii the day the snow hits the ground. I absolutely love it because there's no competition and I'm by myself almost 100% of the time. Sure I go with a club, but that doesn't matter since nobody wants to snowboard with me (because I skii) and I don't want to skii with them (because they're all dickheads).

Otherwise I don't play anything. Did one year of mixed doubles Badminton in grade seven and lost my only game by a huge margin. After that I was definitely sure never to compete in anything again.

Naturally, because I'm 6'1 the teachers will not stop *****ing at me to play on the basketball or volleyball team. I'm considering the volleyball, but that's only because everybody and their bloody dog is begging me to play and I seem to be a half-decent player.
