What would you do if you can't ever, ever, play FreeSpace again?

Gather all HLP members to rebuild the whole game from scratch to continue to play it :)

FS was one large chunk of my childhood. It'd be a damn shame to see it go.

Put up with playing other, lower quality superior space sims. Of which, there aren't very many, none have released the source code, none are as moddable as FS2 and therefore have no new fan-made campaigns. So basically, I would probably get bored of them very quickly and stick to my FPS games.

simmilar for me, i was about 11 when FS1 first came out so i have known it for most of my life , life would be very strange and disjointed.

not sure what i would do but i would probably find something to waste my free time on

TBH, there are few space sims I'd really bother playing if I didn't have FS.

Mmm, I first played Freespace 2: Colossus at about 6 or 7 years of age. 6, if I remember correctly.

4 or 5 years ago it would have killed me, but I don't play so much any more.  None of the most popular new campaigns released in the last few years have really impressed me, the stories have never grabbed me.  Transcend and Windmills are the most recent ones that I thought were very good,   I'd be gutted about not see the sequel to Transcend but that'd be about it.

i'd miss the occasional nostalgia trips, but i don't actually play FS too terribly often.  i went essentially from the collapse of FSO and last breaths of all the old squads however many years ago that was till january of this year without playing.
I like to stare at the sun.

I don't play as often as I did in the past, I just play to test new stuff I mod for the game... I guess I would miss the fact you can make stuff and add it to the game.

But, for that I can find another game as well, still... I would miss the old good FS a lot.

EDIT:

and I would miss the unique community guys, probably a lot.... it's hard to find guys such as the ones lurking on these forums nowdays.

Learn how to work with DoW engine modding and play that.

Uggghh *shudder*.  DoW has so many files (wtp, whe, rsh, rgd) and some of them are compiled versions of other ones.  On the other hand, the DoW engine does allow modders to do all sorts of model-related stuff.  Check out the Firestorm over Kronus mod for an example of what the DoW engine lets modders do.

I've seen FoK mod and I really like it.
Looking forward to Soulstorm version.
Modding DoW seems difficult, but it can give great results.

Finally finish playing X-Wing Alliance, and then finish many of the other things I have lying around, and then play The Old Republic.
