One simple question - We need Shivan ship icons and ani's (you
know, from the FS2 ship selection panel) for a new FS2 campaign. Are they
available to download somewhere or we have to create them ourselves? I mean,
we have almost everything we need, except for these icons and ani's. I know
there are some for FS1, but they're obviously not compatible with FS2. TIA.

I have some for the Nahema that you can have.  You should be aware, however, that flying Shivan ships can do crazy things to the player's firing control.  The maximum number of primary weapon banks FS2 supports properly for a player ship is two, and three secondary banks.  Flying the Seraphim, with four secondaries and three primaries, will mean that the player cannot cycle through his missiles, but must use them in order, and his primaries will always be fire linked.

I used the Nahema for my purposes because it falls with in the allowable parameters on both counts.

Uhm... Not sure if that's what you mean though. ;)

Still, I know nothing about any existing Shivan ship briefing ICONS. These from FS1 (I found them in the Dreadful Shivans Modpack) don't seem to fit FS2. :(

The shivan briefing icons, or player ship choice icons? Because briefing Icons already exist in FS2.

(Damn... I have both Polish and English versions of FS1 & FS2 installed, it sometimes gets somewhat confusing ;))

Nono, I mean PLAYER SHIP CHOICE icons. I know the briefing ones exist ;)

So, any leads, ANYONE? :confused:

Make them.... yes. :D It's all possible. And it'll go even quicker if I can get the FS2 SLAP project off the ground. ;)

Player ship choice icons can be made also. I have some experience in that field too. :)

bobboau, looking at your bats. I suppose you know this, But your bats do not seem to show it. and oh well everybody else can learn this if they don’t know.

First you alter you Ac.bat to this

Bright.exe %1*.tga -common -o
Ac.exe %10000.pcx

Then you right click on your ac.bat and in the programs tab
Go to program and down to command line and make it like this; X:\...\ac.bat ?. Notice the whitespace and question mark. It is there for the reason described below.

Now when you double click ac.bat a pop up box will come up and ask you the name of the file to be converted, like drdl0001

I use ANIBuilder for the second part; it is easier to use and has some bugs in ACANI corrected. ;)

I can knock off ship selection icons in minutes, actually.  I suppose I can do them if you want.  Anyone who has seen my work will tell you it is quality stuff.  (Why am I pimping myself?  Do I really want everyone knocking my door down?  Meh, whatever. :) )

The nice, rotating-on-a-green-grid animations would take me a long time to do with my 2D graphics programs, so I wouldn't unless there were some compensation involved.  Bobboau's probably the man for making those, since he can do it with automation.

Sometimes automation isn't as effective as manual, and that's where I come in. Take a look at my p1mpage above. :D

If only there was a way I could make an automated version of what I do to make loadout animations...

Some of the time reduction could be done in Model View. I wonder if there's a way HH could get a green grid in there and then allow us to automatically have a model spin (based on what we want our YRots to be) and have it save animation frames in a specified directory.

I think it'd be tricky to write but I'm not a C programmer so I wouldn't know. :D

I know about replaceable peramiters, but I like to just change the four letter code in the bat rather than making a shortcut and adding it there, this way I only have the one bat not a bat and a link to the bat, but I did give out this stuff a while ago with that in there

I can make ship selection icons, with all the right colours for the different frames and all. All I need is the ships shield ani from the hud.

Like many people here, I can make the selection icons pretty easily but the rotating grid animations would be very hard to do without knowledge of 3D animation.
