Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
The fda is currently trying to ban these things and calling them more toxic than normal tobacco. First thing is to realize the fda is in a hissy fit because they currently don't regulate these cool gizmos that have saved thousands of lives. Secondly they're already banning shipments of these life savers, which is dumb because they haven't been deemed illegal yet. Thirdly the fda was largely inconclusive about the results of toxicity of these devices with the flavors (which means i'm pretty sure they didn't do any testing at all, or the results weren't what they were hoping for which is toxicity). Fourthly, the fda is spreading fud about the cool gizmos not simply calling them toxic and not backing up with evidence. I'm growing tired of this fud game in american news and politics.

I just got myself a joye 510 electronic cigarette kit. It's proving to be working pretty well. Of course i ordered some accessories to come with it like extra atomizers more liquid for it which contains nicotine.

Least to say, it's a very portable fog machine that feeds human consumable fog into your lungs (as opposed to pesticide grade). Glycerine, propolyne glycol, and nicotine are the ingredients. With the two first ingredients being food additives in well food, and prescription drugs. These two food additives being used as stabilizers.

Additionally nicotine is nicotine and i don't care where it's derived from as long as there's no carcinogens or anything bad for my health. Nicotine that i have been so addicted to for years i would consider to be bad for my health since it's a vasoconstrictor and helps your body release fat cells into your body at the same time. On a less toxic note it totally ****s with the pleasure center of your brain.

On a side note, i quit smoking in a safe manner. Eventually i'll ween myself off of nicotine with this joye 510 vaporizer and go for non nicotine based flavors. Now i can hang with my buddies who do smoke and not need a smoke. I really like the communal smoking with friends and the habit of smoking more than the nicotine and chemicals itself. This will let me keep that in a safe manner.

It's because of this that electronic cigarettes have become popular with smokers looking to quit and actually be successful at it and probably being the safest form of inhaling nicotine too. You want to learn about the fda ban, google it yourself, i don't care

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
In the year 2010 a man may, if he wishes, smoke electronically with a device known as a personal vaporiser.

Gentlemen, the future is here.

I heard these have been banned in non-smoking areas in a few places. That always struck me as bizarre, since they (surely?) eliminate the whole issue of second-hand smoke.

Hell, I have trouble breathing* if I have to walk behind someone smoking on the street, so I see that vapour inhalator exclusively as an improvement.

Besides, it can't be any more dangerous than the cancer-rolls it's supposed to replace, right? For this behaviour to be ligically consistent, FDA should impose bans on tobacco products as well...

*the stench of tobacco smoke catches my breath, and it's disgusting. It's not like I can't breathe ehen exposed to the vile fumes, I just don't want to.

i thought about getting a vaporizer some time ago, to help make my weed consumption more efficient. of course then i looked at the price and decided to roll a joint instead. :D

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
Rofl, it'd take a little know how to make your own thc liquid to be vaporized by the thing. But, talk about personal vaporizer as opposed to this thing.

Did i mention that the container holding the electric cigarette is also the charger, charges up through usb, and is about the same size as a pack of smokes
Mine didn't come with a wall charger, but i use my blackberry charger for it.

These products are occasionally banned in non smoking areas. Now while you can puff on these in non smoking areas because it's not smoke, no risk of second hand, and it's not toxic people still think that seeing is believing.

The number one thing behind these electronic cigarettes is confusion to the ill knowledged. People see the smoking habit continue without the smoke, they automatically assume this to be bad because anything associated with smoking is bad (in this case the only thing associated with smoking would be the physical of habit of still puffing on something that's like a cigarette but isn't).

The number two thing is that a lot of people are retards and think that seeing is believing. They see someone smoking on what doesn't really look like a cigarette, but they say all this vapor coming off of it that looks like smoke, to them hence that person is still smoking with actual smoke. It's very hard to convince these people otherwise even if you break down the electric cigarette in front of them. If an asthmatic person tries to tell me i'm bothering them with this, i'm going to tell them to piss off i know this wont bother them (in fact the ingredients in the liquid aside from the nicotine is found in inhalor medication anyway).

These are the reasons why people go ape **** about the electronic cigarette. Me, i'm just going to be discreet about it. I'm just going to puff on this thing in smoking designated areas, and smoke it indoors where i live or when no ones around. The people who get these banned in non smoking areas are the retards who whip them out without thinking at like a family restaurant or something and start puffing away and everyone in the food establishment goes ape ****. This is why i'm discreet about it

As far as i know for the week of research on these, the fda seems to just be spreading fud not backing up their claims, and these haven't in anyway been negatory for people's health. The fda is actually recommending to smoke tobacco instead of using the electronic cigarette.

Does the exhaled nicotine vapor still smell like hobo's arse?

If it doesn't stank, then by all means puff away!

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
This stuff is known for being odorless. But you can smell it a little, if you dive inside of the vapor cloud sniffing away. They sell more than just tobacco flavors. Crazy things like cheese cake, german chocolate, pina-colada, etc. I went with a tasty cigar flavor captain black with a very tasty pipe tobacco flavor black and mild.

I went with tobacco flavors to help keep me from going back to tobacco. These two flavors are well known for their delicious taste and smell, but with it being mostly odorless, i really only get to enjoy the taste. For those that would smell it, they probably wouldn't give a **** because it actually smells good (as opposed to marlboro).

Now they do make a marlboro cigarette flavor that i'm sure other people buy and puff on that tastes like hobo ass. But still, you're unlikely to smell this stuff unintentionally.

As far as nicotine strength goes. I went with 12mg of nicotine per ml. You can buy as high as 36mg per ml (people that smoke 4 or more packs a day get that one...heavy smokers). But, i was never that much of a fiend for nicotine :p

yeah i'd much rather be surrounded by these than cigarettes.  i can see why some non-smoking areas would extend to this as well, but banning them is just dumb.

i dont know about that. ive seen vaporizers being used for marijuana on a documentary about medicinal marijuana. its probibly a different breed of vaporizer than what youre using, but the concept is essentially the same. also from what i can tell the marijuana vaporizers can vaporize the buds directly, so theres no need to buy liquified weed.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
Depends on how you do it. If you got some marijuana butter into the glycerine propyleneglycol mix, or make your own marijuana extract and put it into the same mixture. You might have something that's more of a heavy hitter than a joint when you're on the run.

Yes i know how effective vaporizers are, it gets more thc into your system. They bring the marijuana up to a temperature that is essentially close to burning but more described as dry oven baking on a hot plate with a plastic bag.

****, people probably have made their own before out of a hot plate and plastic walmart bag (the hot plate better have temperature control).

Or then again, why bother with liquid marijuana? The electronic cigarette works via heating element that heats up the liquid to turn it into a vapor. Why not just get the heating element in the atomizer to just get hot enough to burn something else? You'd have the benefit of the joint that stops smoking when you took your hand off the button.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
vaporizers work essentially by avoiding combustion. combustion is where all the other carcinogens come into being, and by eliminating that, you eliminate a large chunk of the problem. so i can see why cancer patients use a vaporizer rather than a bong.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
Rarg, i should have written that differently. Yeah vaporizers do everything but burn the weed. For exactly what you said. I'm curious if the heating element in the electronic cigarette would be possible to do the same thing with weed.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
The flash points of THC and other cannabinoids are not as high as the flash point of the actual bud, so you can effectively 'burn' the THC while leaving the plant intact.

Plus it'll mess you up.  :P

EDIT: As far as using the electronic cigarette for weed; it depends on what temperature it heats at.  I don't know what temperature it takes to activate Nicotine.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
I think enough was said about this partnership of fda and tobacco industy already considering the ban on these electric life savers and the recommendation that it's somehow safer to smoke tobacco. Who really doesn't know about the big business companies controlling my government anyway :p

This is an all out attack on electric cigarette which sucks balls. The fda even went so far as to say that these are marketed to attract minors.

In my opinion i only see hardcore smokers or those looking to quit getting into a piece of equipment like this regardless of whether or not they have bubblegum or strawberry flavor.

This puts it in a nutshellhere. This puts together the fud the fda is trying to get people to believe. Doctors and phsycians in the US do support use of electronic cigarettes because they're non toxic and have been a very successful drop in replacement to tobacco smokers everywhere. I couldn't really find a source for the AAPHP (american association of public health physicians) yet. Sorry, didn't really think of adding sources when i started this.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
special intrest is what dictates the fda to make things legal or otherwise. marijuana was made illegal because they were afraid it would make african americans rape white women. they never changed that. there is still that ban on absinthe which doesnt make any sense. the government has been friends with booze ever since its founding. booze taxes have probibly paid for every american war twice over. this is just another one of those things. makes me question why we need so much regulation in such a so called free country. its always been the lobbyists that get their way.

Re: Electronic smokes that save lives and FDA ban
Business regulation could come back into place. The whole thing with the fda and the tobacco industry being cozy together is something that's not supposed to happen. This is called a conflict of interest. The fda is supposed to be all about what's good to go into your body and the tobacco industry is not, and now the fda recommends smoking tobacco instead of puffing on something that fake, but realistic.

This is still land of the free. But, now big business nearly prevents startup or small businesses, even to the point of not being able to market a new product.
