I was just wondering why i'm getting ads about stuff i am not interested about, in a forum that has little to NOTHING to do with it, and i haven't even seen scientology related stuff for google to send me ads about it! i would rather see the old videogame ads :<

What do you mean it has nothing to do with this forum?  Didn't you notice the "Operation Thetan" Total Conversion in the hosted projects?  I heard rumors they've got a script to make BP's look like a easy reader and already modeled and converted up some space DC-8s.

Not quite. The admins didn't have a secure password on the server, and one of the admin sold the database to the CoS. I was involved very heavily in the Anonymous thing for a year and a half. My living situation caused me to drop out, after I had private investigators stalking me from my house and work, and sending letters to my family members stating I was a terrorist. Good times.

I'm going to be diplomatic here.  If Scientology is allowed to advertise, why not the Catholic church or Southern Baptists or sommat?

They don't need to, since they aren't as funding-deprived as the Cult of Scientology.  I've seen a few Mormon advertisements in my time on the Internet, as well.

But it does constitute a reason why the Catholic church doesn't advertize.

Islam and Southern Baptists most likely don't advertize because of a lack of internal organization and the resulting parochialism. They don't want to bring in people indiscriminately, they want to bring people to them, their congregation. They also don't necessarily agree on doctrines and don't want people to go "wrong", though one could argue this is merely an extension of the former.

The other catch is that the Catholic Church doesn't require you to pay tens of thousands of dollars in order to become a member.  Granted, there was that whole indulgences thing in the Middle Ages, but we're mostly past that.
