I prefer the Ulysses myself, love the laser fire reflecting along the side of the wing... the lighting 0wns

Awesome! The Ulysses looks like it belongs in a cutscene. Dynamic lighting is good, but work on your laser glows. I love the Leviathan except the entire picture should be in greyscale- that reddish corona looks SO out of place.

They'd be good as sequence art. Like where you fade in and out of each picture in a sequence. First pic: Lev cruising, Second pic: Warp effect in the distance, two small prongs emerging, Third pic: Lev turning, beam impacting it, fighters approaching, half emerged Lucifer in the distance.

For the leviathen pic I didn't notice that red corna till you mentioned it, 2 secs work to fix that.

The Ulysees is my favourite piece.  I spend about 5 hours average, working on each ship trying to get it just right but that took nearly 8 hours.

I'm always having problems with the background star fields.  Anyone know a good technique?

The background for the Medusa pic is terrible but I'm very happy with the explosion effect on the container and the closest Medusa bomber.

Hmmm, I just noticd the star field for the Ulysees isn't quite right.

Anyone know any good methods for making backgrounds.  I tried using different layers but I can't get them to merge right.

Yah, none of the backgrounds really seem quite right. Good renders of the ships and good lighting and stuff. You (or somebody else) should definitely try to make an animation out of that.

i've been trying to figure out starfields myself but none of my attempts look anywhere near decent.  As for the Loki kicking ass, don't you dare diss my ship, LOKIS RULE!!!

Seriously though folks, how many of you can kill a player flown Loki in under 3 minutes?

Starfields are tough....nebulas aren't nearly as bad actually

Make 3-4 layers and add a layer of cloudly noise as an overlay (perhaps two layers) and you're set.
