Re: How do you fill your time?
Sounds like he's ruling out more computer time?
That's actually something that bears mentioning, come to think of it. Easily one of the largest time-sinks in my life, and generally something I do if I have time to fill, or even when I have no time at all. Reading and posting on HLP.

Damn, I've been browsing for years. It really staggers me to think how long I've had HLP forums in my favourites, or had the url damn near the top of the list. All the time I've spent on this little forum, must be weeks if you put it all together. Maybe months. Admittedly, I don't spend much time posting. But if I'm bored for even a second and I'm on a PC, then HLP is my next stop. And I get bored a lot.

Man, I love this place.
Same here. Just not as long...

Dang. Guess we'll have to wait another 10 years for BWO. ;)
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Apparently all of you are in the same boat as me :)

Never far away from HLP and from a computer with an installed FreeSpace.

Re: How do you fill your time?
I try to do projects, work on art, homework. I've got like 6 projects going right now all at once that I dabble in from time to time, in addition to schoolwork. When I don't want to do anything, I usually hop on HLP or the web to surf.

I just screw around on the Internets and/or play TF2.  I'm not exactly a stellar example. :p

Seriously, guys, do you have any real life hobbies?  I can't remember the last time I was bored with anything.  Here is what I like to do when I'm not doing FreeSpace, in no particular order...

1) Legos
2) Model trains
3) Model airplanes
4) Model rocketry
5) Amateur electronics
6) Reading
7) Puzzles (the kind you spread out on a table, not stuff like Sudoku)
8) Other computer games
9) Marble tracks
10) Watching movies

Honestly, I'd love to have extra free time.  I'd get to do more stuff.

4) Model rocketry

Everything else is small time. I did this since middle school, but recently had to stop due to lack of money to buy engines.

I wish people did that around where I live. That video looked pretty interesting, but I'll admit when I did expect to see two blokes going at it when I first started watching. :P The looked like an almost methodical and measured nature of the activity was what made it seem appealing to me, reminiscent of fencing as well.

I really ought to get into these again. Especially as I've recently finished watching the James May's Toy Stories DVD I got for Christmas. There's an old Life Like train set under my bed that I haven't played with for years. :p

Australia, and I've never seen anything like that happen.

Re: How do you fill your time?
I've been asked to do Larping a few times, because the group was desperately short of ranged troops and I'm a trained Archer, but it never seemed to happen :(

Re: How do you fill your time?
SCA is based solely in history, there are no elves wizards or vampires.   It's what appealed to me.  I didn't want dungeons and dragons on a field.

But we do have a group in australia.

Re: How do you fill your time?
My brother used to take part in historical re-enactments, but gave up after someone threw a tantrum because they redid the Battle of Hastings, my brother was the General of the English, and he figured out how to win ;) Too many years playing Warhammer I think ;)

Some good stuff in there :) Rocketry... I'd love to try that. Maybe I'll do some research. That or RC airplane stuff... I had looked into that a long time ago but forgot all about it. Good ideas!

Good stuff from other people too.

I'm no longer working on BWO and that's been the case for years. I left it with BlackDove who has carried on the noble tradition (it's been 10 years it can be a tradition :)) of trying to finish it. You know it was originally a 10 mission mini campaign.... *sigh*
