How much faith do you have in people?

A lot, i trust others completely, and know that absolutely everyone will do the right thing and be humans beings toward one another.
1 (2%)
I give the benefit of the doubt a lot, and have faith that they won't screw me next time, but more mindful than the first choice.
4 (8.2%)
I give benefit of the doubt where it is due, i don't trust everyone completely, not everyone will be a human being to each other.
19 (38.8%)
I have zero faith in others except my friends...they're worth a damn unlike the 5 other drivers in a row who didn't use their turn signal before getting onto that highway exit and are just bewildered why they got pulled over.
7 (14.3%)
I have zero faith in others...humanity going down the toilet in a bread basket...well what's in the basket at least use to be bread (continues flushing the **** with plunger, snake, drano, septic pump, and incinerator on standby)
0 (0%)
Person by person basis...i run into some decent people...and i run into some real pieces of crap...there's a scale here somewhere, but i don't care.
11 (22.4%)
I really just don't know...something to ponder.

How much faith do you have in people?
I figured this is a good question for everyone. I voted with option 4, because my faith in other people is 0% but my friends don't eat paint chips (i mean good old fashioned time lead based paint chips).

It's been something i've been asking other people too. Results so far...most smart people have 0 faith in others of the paint chip eating populace and only have faith in their friends. And my mother would give the benefit of the doubt to the guy who eats paint chips and mugged her (don't know why that guy would need the benefit of the doubt, he eats paint chips after all and didn't know it wouldn't have hurt to possibly ask for all the money in her wallet not at knife point).

Re: How much faith do you have in people?
I don't trust this poll because there's no real option here... where's Snuffy?

About my trust in other people, there's no possible answer for me.

I've discovered I tend to treat people inconsistently, sometimes being over naive and other times being a complete asshole, I can be influenced by skin color, eye color, the way he/she walks, they way they talk, ****... anything and I don't mind it at all.
My instincts are 90% of the time correct, so why bother controlling those just for the sake of the other 10% who I judge wrong.

Re: How much faith do you have in people?
You got a great point there and a lot of things that go into faith of other people. Really it gets down to do you think the general populace of the world isn't going to slack off on the things you need done for you.

Such as depending on the bank to handle your money right. Do you have faith in the people working at that bank to not be lazy and close your bank account because a worker wanted to be lazy (happened to my friends family a couple of times at a few different banks). Do you have faith in people doing the right thing? Having faith in people in this topic is not an absolute question.

I will add option to the poll "person by person basis".

Summery:
I put "person by person" but honestly, I have no idea what you mean by "faith in people."

Every person can be nearly sure to do things in a particular way.

Detail:

I trust my best friend to do what's best for her, when I'm involved however, it's usually good for me too. I trust her to express affection towards me more through actions (making me things, etc) than through affection and talking (more banter, less sappy)

I trust my mother to be crazy, and make decisions that make everyone very sad. I trust her to say things to hurt me, in order to get me to do things that she thinks will help me / other people, but will really only cause problems.

People I don't know I generally don't talk to unless we have a shared experience, from which I can learn more about them, and what I can trust them to do.

Re: How much faith do you have in people?
I can place a fair bit of faith in people, depending on how much I know about them. It's opening up to people that I have issues with.

I mean faith as in faith. Confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability. And this thread is mainly about people. The ones you do know, but more so about the ones you don't. What is your confidence level and or trust in other peoples ability to do whatever. In this i will say what is usually required by all people, confidence in them to do the right thing, do what is expected, and to be a human being.

Do you have faith that the mail man is going to deliver your packages to you on time (selecting two day air never always is a week long)? Do you have faith that HP customer service is going to actually help you (there's usually a script following mother****er that's anything but helpful)?

For myself, I don't find this hard to answer. I have faith in my friends and god, no faith in anyone else. That was my answer after spending years of considering the question. It's obvious to me you gave the best answer you could after some good thinking.

Anyone else saying that this is an unanswerable question, i don't believe that hardly. People that don't know how to answer it, understandable (a lot of people don't know how to answer it, along with many not having considering it before). The selections in the poll are the way they are to make it easier to click something in the poll that closely reflects how that person considers and feels their faith in others is...given that they have an answer. If the poll answers are too wierd to figure out, then don't pay attention to the mini-examples they also include next to them. Also, don't make answering it more difficult than it need be.

I see snuffy, and -10^100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 was added. I take it to snuffy and the big number is to signify for those who don't know how to answer or just don't care. Of which case i say for those that don't care, there is the option of abstaining (and even the option of not stopping by this thread), and for those who didn't know how to answer...that's why there's the "i don't know" answer in the poll.

Re: How much faith do you have in people?
Person by Person for me. I tend to reserve all forms of judgement on an individual basis until I actually know a bit about who I'm judging, and I refuse to pass judgement on people as a whole, as I believe attempting to do so and no coming across as cynical and pessimistic  is a fool's errand. It's impossible for any one man to truthfully judge a greater group of people that he is not intimately familiar with.  And no man is intimately familiar with "people" in the sense this thread is speaking, no matter what he may say.

I find if it really matters to me what someone will do, I tend to rely less on my prejudices, and rely more on what evidence I have.

A fair point. Yes, it happens. Yes, its standard human response. The difference? I, and I'm sure others do this too, realize they are passing judgement when they have no right to, nor the knowledge necessary to do so, and stop. They rethink their opinions, say to themselves, "I know nothing about this person," and they move on. That, IMO, is what people should do, instead of adopting this "we're  all assholes" pack mentality we're so fond of.

Now, I should note, this is in no way some kind of foolish, naive, "everyone love each other" viewpoint. If the person proves beyond a doubt to be a worthless POS or makes a terrible first impression, think what you will. I just dont believe it proper to judge a person or group I have yet to even meet based on some half-assed concept of Humanity I dredged up one night in a bout of cynicism.
