I'm surprised someone was actually invested in the film enough to give it that much thought. It was kinda obvious going in that you were going for Hot Girls and Explosions. Expecting Shakespeare is a little too much.

No one was expecting Shakespeare. The problem is that where other movies at some point reach a bottom and become so bad that they often become funny...  Suckerpunch just keeps going into freefall without ever inducing any kind of emotion other than the desire for it to finally end. Heck compared to this.... Michael Bay IS Shakespeare LOL.

Suckerpunch utterly fails to give any kind of significant meaning to what happens on the screen.... which makes even the most formulaic action B-movie exponentially more watchable than this.

In an attempt to properly convey just how utterly Snyder fails to present an engaging experience I inevitably arrive at the label "anti-movie".
- because aside from visuals and sound it really does pretty much do everything wrong that can imaginably be done wrong in the making of a movie - and especially in the writing of a script.

This reminds me strongly of SGWP2. So much action, almost every second filled up with blowing stuff up, whilst lacking actual plot quality and character development (well the latter actually sucks for most of the FreeSpace series anyway, but in a cool way).

Who would think of having the 80-kill classic German ace Manfred von Richthofen's Fokker DR-1 triplane squashed like that :(.
With the rapid increase of FS fan-made campaigns, we're giving the GTVA a harder time with more violence and genocide.

Then let me tell you that that is not sufficient to form any opinion at all about this movie.

Anyone can make an opinion, from the wise and clever to the foolish and idiotic.

There's my opinion.

Yes. However, there's a difference between voicing a clearly uninformed opinion and getting derision for it, or shutting the hell up until you had the chance to evaluate whatever you have an opinion about properly.

Thing you have to remember about trailers is that if there are only 30 seconds of action in a 2 hour movie, they'll all be in that trailer ;)

I sort of have an ability to "sense" what a movie would be like just from the trailer. Usually it works. So, judging by the trailer, I can expect disappointment from the actual movie.

That's like saying you can tell when someone's lying to you.

That's not a good comparison... Half of that depends on the liar in question.

That's an excellent comparison. A trailer's job is to lie to you, to paint the movie as the bestest best thing ever regardless of actual content. Frequently, it's also a trailer's job to cherrypick scenes to appeal to certain audiences to make the movie appear to be a certain type of movie; action commercials on Spike, romance ones on Nick at Nite, etc.

That's true and while I'll still happily watch trailers, I'll definitely want to see a review or two before deciding to go watch something. I'll never forgive the Rare Exports ads and trailers which conveniently left out the horrifying fact that halfway through the movie it degenerates into a bloody embarrassing and annoying whiny-kid-becomes-hero-and-saves-the-day flick. :banghead:

What I meant was that it's possible to tell if a person is lying... but I see your point.

Well, what? Heavy rock music (if I'm not mistaken), characters who are all action girls, and almost the entire trailer is just full of violence. That'd be enough to describe the movie, don't you think?

I mean, take for example, a Christmas gift. If you shake it and it feels soft, it might be some clothes. If you shake it and it makes loud, hard noises, it could possibly be a gadget or something, if you get my drift. Same goes with the trailer.

Or maybe I'm just a failed trailer-scanner.

Except that that's like less than half of the actual plot. While all the elements from the trailer are in the movie, the actual context is something completely different.
