Finished the game myself, and I agree with General Battuta's assessment. It's a great game, just wish there were more ways to complete puzzles rather than what at times seemed like going on rails.

Still, Portal 2 has that very typical, almost unexplainable Valve quality and, feeling to it, that makes me thirsty for a certain third episode of another typical Valve game. I'm relieved they're still able to make such high quality games the same way like they used to. Gives me more faith in the company, even if I have to consider the store thing (At least it's hidden away unlike TF2).

Now to play the Co-Op mode with my girlfriend, very soon. Looking forward to that.
I'm all about getting the most out of games, so whenever I discover something very strange or push the limits, I upload them here:

Oh my God.  That ending...that whole ending was...unbelievable.  And when IT popped out at the end, I just applauded.  Valve, you magnificent bastards, how do you manage to do stuff like this?

(And I can't really say I noticed the signposting issues that Battuta experienced, other than once or twice, and most of those were more due to me ignoring an entire area than anything else.  Also, I loved the gel, except for the fact that it completely nerfed my framerate whenever it appeared.)

Just finished it and.... wow.

Spoiler:
It's amazing that they managed to turn GLaDOS, who until now had been characterized as a brilliant, yet raving lunatic and psychotic AI, into a tragic figure.

Oh, also the part about shooting the bloody moon, the foreshadowing is also incredible when Cave Johnson describes the gel used to open portals as being made of moon rocks.

I freakin' loved this game. Spectacular storytelling and writing. Great puzzles too, though I do wish some of the timing and twitch-based puzzles from Portal 1 were present... I hear Co-Op is harder, though. Still haven't played it yet.

To me (and others I've talked with), the whole thing felt like a Pixar movie in game form. So freakin' good.

To me Portal 2 is an example of how to do sequels (with Dragon Age 2 being the exact opposite). Don't change the good, just improve upon it, in almost every way. The game was worth every penny.
I talked to a friend about it yesterday and he had a good observation I agree with - it's great how it doesn't try to be a movie; it's a game and doesn't try to hide it. Plus, excellent writing meaning good humor, excellent game design, much longer than portal 2, improved environments and graphics, what's not to like.. Still need to try co-op.

I think I figured out what I don't like about Portal 2. it has to do with the tone and the humor. In P1, the humor was subtle and slowly ramped up and did so along with the creepy, throughout it all though Aperture Science seemed like a fairly realistic place that had a ****ing crazy AI take it over. In P2, humor was in your face and over the top from the beginning and Aperture was always crazy, even before GlaDOS.

Yeah I agree. It never had the chance to be as funny as Portal 1 because it was too overt with it. Portal 1 was more nuanced.

There was still some really funny stuff though.

Loved the game.

Spoiler:
The song at the end had me both very happy and very sad.
I also warmed up to Wheatley so it kinda sucks that he got spaced (I'm in space), he had some really funny lines, like when he "hacked" the neurotoxin emitter.
GLaDOS was awesome as always, I loved her character. Especially loved it when she promptly deleted Caroline after finding out where in her brain she lived.
I felt smart when I solved some of the puzzles, and I actually enjoyed solving them (which is a thing I do not enjoy 99% of the time).

I didn't like the gels all that much, but there were some interesting spots. The lasers and the floaty force fields and the catapults were great though.

Top-notch game. I'd be perfectly content if no more Portal games were made. It's better that a franchise or series or whatever leaves us wanting more than wishing for less. Far too much of the latter these days.

More excellent quotes:

Spoiler:
GLaDOS: "This... Sentence... Is... False-don't-think-about-it-don't-think-about-it-don't-think-about-it!"
Wheatley: "Umm... true."
GLaDOS: "It's a logical paradox, you moron! There is no answer!"
Wheatley: "False."
