Author Topic: Starwars game?  (Read 2868 times)

Previously there has been a star wars game for pretty much every episode, i never played any of the Xwing series, but i have star wars racer, and i was wondering, what sort of game could they make from the current film?  Would another lightsabre based game go down well?  There wasnt much space combat in AOTC, so that rules that out...
any ideas?

For those wanting details in the post, there's at least two games.  Star Wars: Bounty Hunter based on the exploits of Jango Fett, and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds expansion - Clone Campaigns (gone gold already).

EDIT: Oop, and there's this too.  http://www.lucasarts.com/products/starwarstheclonewars/

Something simply called Star Wars: The Clone Wars, takes place right after the movie.

I'm VERY much looking forward to Bounty Hunter myself.  I'm a major Fett fan, and though I'd like to play as Boba, I can do with Jango.  (Bsides, once I see Episode II, I'll probably end up loving Jango just as much as Boba.  From what I've heard so far, Jango Fett is a true badass.

I saw an ad on TV for a game called "Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter" or something to that effect.

I should really have done a search for the answer to my question, but thats not the spirit of conversation.

Yes, you did.  Quite a well done ad too.  It's the sequel to Star Wars: Starfighter which was designed for PS2, ported to XBox (and Gamecube maybe?) - then finally PC (at least I'm pretty sure we got a version of it).

Jedi Starfighter will probably get the same treatment, but don't look for a replacement to FS2 there.  It's an arcade-type game to the core.  The "Star Fighter" series is the "Rogue Squadron" game for the prequel trilogy.  The only hope we have for another decent space sim from LucasArts is from them and Totally Games with a continuation of the X-Wing series.  Too bad TG is working with LA on a WW2 sim, eh?

Jango's definitely a good bounty hunter, but he's nothing compared to what Boba's gonna be.  As you'll see (and is made WAY more clear in the book), Boba's whole reason for existing is to be a better bounty hunter than his father.  He was trained from childhood to be better.  Jango's good, but he's nothing like the awesome bounty hunter we all remember from ESB.

Although I wished they would have made it an RTS... to make up for the retarded Force Commander... :doubt:

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Yeah, they need a half-way decent fully 3D RTS...

I personally don't like the Galactic Battlegrounds game... its too cluttered and unorganized for me, and what really bothers me is that the game doesn't allow a 3D camera(good thing too actually, everything is out of proportion)

But, in truth, LucasArts sucks at RTS =P

I know that! But AOE2 wasn't as cluttered and messy as SW:GB.

I go with Thorn, get a company who knows how to make an RTS to do it.

I wanna a game where you're a clone trooper battling it out on some weird planet in some huge ass war. Something on the same scale as Medal of Honor: Allied Assault! Think about it, you're waiting on the republic transport ships as its making its decent to the battlegrounds, you look out of the open sides and see many other ships flying nearby. Suddenly one gets blown up and plummets to the ground in flames... Then you're ship lands and you're greeted by thousands of blastershots from an emerging droid army in the distance, next to you you're fellow clone gets shot down and you slowly progress forward amongst other troopers blasting into the fray! :D Man that would be cool! Then there'd be more individual missions like infiltration and such. But it would always happen with a group of troopers instead of you alone, against the galaxy!
I have returned... Again...

I HATE those games... you're always vastly outnumbered, the fate of the world/galaxy/universe is on your shoulders, and you single handedly pull it off.

One of the reasons I liked Freespace so much. :D

Chaos is good..........  I want to fight in a gigantic battle, with all shorts of insane stuff going on....that's why I liked Serious Sam :)

Like Starship Troopers (the film, not the game) -  loads of eneimes to kill, just holding down the trigger and trying to survive the next encoutner.  I think the Serious Sam mod for that sounds particularly interesting. :D

Go Bioware! They're making two games I plan on getting. Neverwinter Nights and the aforementioned SW:KotOR. BTW, the link I put for SW: KotOR goes directly to the official site.
