OT Warnings about illegal sofware
Dear HLPers

Recently i have been trying to get into the world of 3d modeling with programs.  I could not afford to purchase all of these programs some ranging over 3,500$ in US Price.  So i decided to hop on a internet file to file transfer program and download it for free.  I felt morally convicted about it.  I mean i felt really bad, really really bad about, i dunno why, i mean i had nes roms and everything else, why care eh?  But i did and i started downloading models and began working on my project the FS2 to STA2 game.  I still felt convicted to uninstall this program but didnt.  I had read in various sources like the Bible that basically what goes around comes around, basically if you steal from some one, God wil right what is wrong.  Knowing this i felt weird, was i gonna dl this program and walk outside and wreck my truck or something.  Well 1 full day later after i had installed the program i went to my parents house of town to my brothers high school graduation party.  On my way home that night my roomate called my parets and informed them of a BREAK IN.  Some one had broken into our house and stole my computer, monitor, games, yamaha music keyboard, and money... ITS ALL GONE... IM SO MAD>:(

I think i know who it was but he gave me permission to search his property and i have found nothing, i also filed a police report.

OT Warnings about illegal sofware
The lesson? Don't use warez. Or if you don't believe in coincedences then make sure your computer is properly secured against break ins as well as other threats.

There is of course another lesson to this, firstly you're opening yourself to all kinds of flak since you just readily admited to downloading warez, if some authority saw this you'd not be doing yourself any favours.

Finally - and this is the most readily important one. Do not post about warez. Ever. I've been trying to cut down on locking threads of an OT nature lately since we're going for the community feel - but warez is still a topic that shalt not be discussed. Learn the lesson :)
