anyone know what kind of weapon he was using? i get the impression it was a bolt action rifle or a shotgun but the article was kind of vague about this. attacking with a rifle at close range is a very stupid way to engage a target. seems he didnt place himself far enough back to have effective control of the weapon. and the ****ing around with the bolt would make an inexperienced person drop his aim. i had a hard enough time with that in my last batch of hunting exploits. last year i took out a buck near point blank, so it was a one shot deal, but all the bucks ive seen this yer were at range. the time it takes to chamber a new round and find your target is not as fast as you might think, and it cost me a kill. at close range this is less of an issue though, but stilla bolt action rifle tou need to use your trigger hand to jack a round in, meaning your taking your finger off the trigger, and if your gun isnt well maintained you might have trouble chamberlain a new round and could take a second or two. you give your victim a window in which to act, and combined with the short range, he needs less to take control of the weapon. now a handgun or a pump action shotgun can chamber a round with the left hand and no loss of target is required. then of course on top of that a lot of people hesitate the first time they need shoot to kill something.
