To be honest, I forgot where this originally originated
*Raises hand*
Although, honestly, I wasn't expecting a split!

Don't do some ****ing time-travel plot that effectively erases the continuity of the previous five TV series and ten films.
This post is dumb, and this line here is why.
Now maybe you're a complete cheapskate and you don't want to follow the various Relaunch novel series (I'd like to but :money:) or STO's timeline or whatever, but this is just stupid.
No, it's not dumb. It's actually rather observant. For all intents and purposes, the prime timeline is dead. Any future movie or series, and thus
canon, will refer to the "new" timeline. Original Trek history may get a nod or two, but we have borne witness to the end of the universe we've seen developed since the late 80's. The games and novels are all quite entertaining, but they mean exactly dick in the grand scheme of things. The core of the Trek universe has always been the television shows and the movies. I seem to remember someone posting something back in the original thread about the movie that I agreed with completely: It's an entertaining movie, in fact it's quite watchable, but it sure as ****
ain't a Star Trek movie.
Just to get back to the core of what I meant when I created this little tangential thread: The designs used in Star Trek are
****. Seriously. It's like the design process consisted of someone attempting to draw TOS Star Trek ships, based solely on vague description. The Romulan mining ship in particular, it's just
lazy. Lots of spikes and dark details, because they're the bad guys! Sure, it's not anything remotely like Romulan
or Borg design traits, but whatevs, spikes are
extreme.
Urgh. Plus, they implied pretty strongly that Scotty ****ing killed Porthos, Jonathan Archer's awesome and adorable beagle. Seriously,
**** that movie.
