So, I might have a masochistic streak - Here I'm going to LP a SNES Hard X-COM rip off by crazy Russians, which only manages to be passable (Or decent-ish with the Unimod, which I'm using)
I'm playing on the easiest difficulty and I still expect that I will end up restarting so many times that I end up just folding. This is not a game you complete, not normally, and I don't know enough about it to game the system
So, without further ado, I present to you HLP UFOET.
**********
"Esperanza, that's what we call this place, the new Hope of Humanity - A chance to start anew, far from the ashes of the system that birthed us.
However, things are never as easy as we'd like. The old threats (Or perhaps new ones?) that chased us from our home have followed us here. These things are just legends to us, legends like those of that old system we left behind. All we know is that once more, we are looking to the skies, and strange ships bringing death and disorder are coming once again."
So, we start on the fictional world of Esperanza, a colony of humans who have basically forgotten their roots and the cataclysmic alien invasion that led to them being catapulted into space from Earth to start anew, and the aliens have finally caught up to us. Time for HLP (Not)X-COM to roll out again.
So future tech and environments worthy of the Tiberium franchise, here we come!
We start here, that little square blip is our base, automatically placed slap bang in the centre of the country of Ilyria. I warn you now that compared to X-COM, covering and protecting this globe and intercepting everything is nigh on impossible with the level of funding you are given. I wonder if that is because Unimod has expanded the globe massively or something. I really need to check that for my inevitable next attempt.
And here is our base, with the basics it comes with of the usual detection system (radar), lab, workshop, set of four hangars, powerplant and command centre. The things I'm building are the Training Centre (Improve Soldier Stats during base down time) and Alien Containment - They take a long time to build so getting them done right away is always a good idea.
What you see in the Hangars there are two Raptors, our starter Interceptor (And Unimod adds a way for me to upgrade that into a slightly better marque, which will come in time), and the Red Raider, our first dropship.
I've also started the research that will lead me to Laser tech, as it's my only critical project at the moment (Despite this thing having a behemoth of a research tree at over 120 items to research - Although the advanced cannon and missile rack will become important shortly).
And the equipment purchase screen - I need to buy the weapons, armour, shields and ammo for my troopers here, along with scientists and workers to fill out my base complement as it stands.
Which leads me to the next thing we need. Names. I need soldiers, pilots, and tank drivers willing to die for this Not-Earth.
