THAT is the almost complete, third rebuild of a mission that has been plaguing me for ages.  In its current status, I can see the briefing (only the objectives stage exists currently), choose my loadout, and push the "commit" button.  Once I do push that button, my system hard locks, and I have to reset.

(If you want something a little less thick on the reading, paste that into Wordpad and save it as "BlueFlamesisPOed.fs2" and look at it in FRED2 or try to fly it in FS2.)

In just so many words, can someone get it to work and tell me what the frell is wrong with it?  I just don't see why it shouldn't work...

there could be an error some where in the mission that causes it to crash like wrong ibformation in one place. A good thing to do is open up the back-up copy of the mission and see if it runs if it does then see what changes you made between the back up one and the latest one. (o the backup is the full mission it's...hmmm.....its and earlier bit of your mission so most of the stuff in this one wont be then.) hope that came out alright :D

If I'm not mistaken, I invalidate the goal before the mission ends anyway, so it's not a big deal, but I'll make a definate point to deal with the is-iff problem.

The only solution is to redesign the mission so you dont need is-iff.  I had the same problem with a mission I made, and it took forever for me to figure it out.  Is-iff will NEVER work, ever, pretend it doesnt exist.

Instead of checking IFF, check the event that caused the IFF change with is-event-true.  That should get you the same effect without crashing the computer on you.  Looking through your mission, its going to be a ***** since you have several events that change the Kaiser's IFF (Red wing's arrival and destruction, etc.), but its the only way you can do it, unfortunately.

Damn, okay. I used the IFF a lot in that mission.
I'll just set them to always hostile or something, and make them "protected" when I need them to be.

I wanted to suggest the same:
every change-iff should be in a single event, that can be checked by sexps like event-true, event-incomplete, event-false or not-is-event-true, etc.

that way you can remove the is-iff sexps and produce the same effect

better use that instead of not changing the iff status at all
it sure will be a more elegant solution then the ship-guardian or invulnerable sexp
