I finally managed to see Evangelion 3.33.
...
...what. Seriously, what?
Well, any non-Eva fans are going to have been left in the dark several miles back at this point if they've only been following the movies. For those of us familiar with the series mythology it's still rather confusing. They pulled some stuff in this movie I didn't think was even possible in Eva.
I think I have a decent grasp on what's going on, though I'm at a loss on several things... I suppose we just have to wait until Evangelion Final to clear anything up (though, this being Eva, I sort of doubt it will).
It's all been a dream experienced by God-Shinji from EoE, just before he rejects instrumentality.
You know, I can't say that something like this hasn't crossed my mind, but I don't think that even Anno would take his fanbase-trolling that far.
It'd be no different from how the original series ended. Though I don't think things will stop at just death threats should he do this, dem japanese fanbases are RABID!
And the thing is, I don't think that it's too far from the truth. There are too many things that tie the world in with EoE, that it's only logical to assume that it's linked in some fairly significant way to the original series' timestream/universe/reality/mentalbreakdowninaboxset.
