I seem to remember a post back on the VBB asking if a "transfer" (a port) from FS1 to FS2 would be good and one of the guys posted said it wouldn't be legal, infringing "FS1's" copyrights or something. Porting all of the missions, ships, weapons, etc. would also be classified as warez, moreso than this because you are essentially playing exactly what FS1 and Silent Threat is, just with Freespace 2 graphics. All Im doing is asking for a copy of CD2 of a game that I already own two-thirds of.
Well, you are copying the weapons and ships from FS1, but look at all the converted FS1 stuff to FS2, besides it wouldnt do any bad now. FSPort was a great thing to bring FS1 graphics to FS2 standard, even if the missions werent perfect. And Silent Threat SUCKED. You could think of it as illegal I guess, but who would actually act upon that now? Its not like the game is new and really popular.
Now Im not trying to get HLP (or GE) screwed over, but the FSPort is just as warezy as downloading the full game of FS1 and ST. Im sorry if no one agrees with me, but thats just how it is.
Like I said, I dont think that Volition or anyone would actually carry out anything. Volition wants us to make the Freespace games like our own little toolbox where we can make mods and ships, etc.
Im NOT going to buy a game I already have two of the three CD's of, don't care what the price.
Agreed.
