Frequent flyers of HLP. How often do you fly and where have you been?
I'm curious. I would like to know how many FFs are part of this community.

Also, for those who are interested in statistics, there are many useful sites on the internet. Flight Memory is very popular in Germany and the United States. Another one I like is Flight Diary: it allows users to enter basic data regarding their upcoming flights and get a link to flightradar24 posted on Facebook when their flight is detected by a radar.

Never so much as stepped on a plane that wasn't parked on the ground at an air show or museum.

I see no snuffle!
I also saw arrow to the knee in some of those options

I'm also not really one to fly all that often. Last time I flew on a commercial aircraft was a couple years ago

I'm a platinum frequent flyer with Qantas as a result of flying to and from work for 18 months. Still fly up and back every month or two (I'vebeen been in the field for the last three weeks almost) but I'm off roster now with a different company. Flying for pleasure, holidays and whatnot, normally at least one or two trips a year somewhere or other.

Re: Frequent flyers of HLP. How often do you fly and where have you been?
I can fly anywhere from 4 to 10 times a year for work.

The novelty wears off quickly.  It's to the point where I'd rather vacation a couple hour drive from my home than get on a plane.

Also, I will never fly more than 2 hours with a child under 5 EVER AGAIN.

True that.  When my firstborn was 16 months old, my wife had a conference to present at in Bristol.  We'd already flown little-bit to and from Grandma's a couple times, so we weren't anticipating the absolute hell we were about to endure.  First plane (a puddle jumper to Houston) wasn't a big deal.  That was fun.  Then, she was ready to go to sleep.  When we got on another plane instead of finding a nice place to sleep, the screaming started.  It didn't end until about an hour later after we were finally airborne and they turned off the cabin lights.  There was this asshole that kept getting in my face asking, "Is she going to do this for the entire flight?"  It was mortifying.  Fortunately, once she conked out, she didn't wake back up until morning.  She was ok for the rest of the flight except for a little fussing during decent.

But yeah, never taking another transcontinental flight with a baby.  Never never never.

OT: I'd say 1 - 2 times a year.  Used to be a lot more than that, but... um, babies and airplanes = heck no.

Used to travel quite a bit, over the summer and sometimes the winter, too. I've been to quite a few places in Europe, a few places in Asia.

Variable. Usually at least 1 round trip per year, but it can be more. When I was younger my family lived in Indonesia- we did a LOT of flying back then.

Used to fly every week for almost 4 years at a past job, and had enough FF miles stored by the end to buy thirty tickets on the last flight. Now I only fly for vacations and stuff.

Kids have never had a problem on a plane. Almost makes me wonder if there's something to the 'fly while you're pregnant and they'll be ok' thing.

Semi-frequent, but not for long. I was trusted to move stuff around for the company.

Hopefully that's over now, I'm a little senior.

In my case, it wasn't so much that my son had a real problem with being on a plane, he had the same problem as every adult:  being stuck on a plane for 11 hours straight is brutal.  And he was only 10 months old, so frustration + no means of reasonable outlet = parents who swear they will never fly with a young child for long flights ever again.

My mom tells me that I only had problems on my first flight, which was 14+ hours, subsequent flights had me sleeping better than her.

Re: Frequent flyers of HLP. How often do you fly and where have you been?
Strange question, but I'll answer. The last three years have been very busy for me because of a certain EU project, I have been traveling about once or twice in a month on work related trips, each taking typically 3-4 days. This year has been heaven-sent, I haven't needed to travel anywhere yet (though I'll be in Italy at some point in next month). As you probably read, work related traveling gets old very fast, and hotels are about the same everywhere, and there is a distinct lack of personal time and personal hobbies always present.

My work trips have taken me to Beijing, Hong Kong, Santorini and Korfu (your tax euros at work ladies and gentlemen  ;) - explaining this would take too long), London, Stansted, Hamburg, Zurich, Freiburg, Wien, Leipzig, Jena, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Praha to name a few - there have been others too. The only personal travel I did recently was to Tenerife to avoid the dark time at November :)

flying is the only way to get around this ****ing state. usually fly somewhere once every few years. i used to enjoy flying before the tsa started going through my ****, breaking my stuff, and looking at my junk.

Now put a second one nearby.

The Atlantic is quite a bit of a puddle to fly above as well, and these things do happen from time to time.

My cousin also had a flight with some kid who started saying stuff like "Are we going to crash?, What happens if we crash?, etc" prior to landing; my cousin spoke up finally, having enough of it, saying more or less:
"Yes, we are going to crash. The plane will fall apart into millions of pieces and you will as well."

The kid never said a word after that.

Re: Frequent flyers of HLP. How often do you fly and where have you been?
At least once a year I fly out to the pacific northwest for vacationing, and have also flown to California, Hawaii, Florida, Massachusetts, and Bolivia.  This spring I'll be flying to Colorado.

Craziest experience I ever had in the air was over the Andes mountains when the plane was basically *****-smacked right out of the sky by some incredible downdraft.  Yep.  That was fun.  I was all "Where's my soda cup?  Oh, it's eight rows behind me.  Wonderful." :V  What struck me most is that not a single person screams or flails while all of this is going on.  Rather everyone's silently going "HNNNNNNNNNNG" with a death-grip on their armrest/whatever. :)

On a lighter note, during one of the other South American flights my friend's uncle whom I was traveling with came to me and said "Hey, want to come up and see the cockpit?"  I figured he just meant they had the door open so you could see inside (boring), but no, I was literally invited to come inside the cockpit during the flight, and I hung out with the pilots until we were parked on the runway.  Awesome.  Would never be able to get away with that in the US.

Re: Frequent flyers of HLP. How often do you fly and where have you been?
I'm the guy that throws his hands in the air and yells like it's a roller coaster when the plane hits bad turbulence.  I was actually disappointed with the gentleness of the landing the first time I flew.
