I can't help but feel there's something missing here... oh yeah, screenshots!
Well, it seems that no one's decided to try screenshots using the new models yet, unless we get a whole load of submissions in the next two days. That being said, though, I decided to have a go myself, simply because I felt it would be a shame if there were no screenshots whatsoever. I mean, the submissions to the Modding Contest were really good and they deserve to be shown off!
Unfortunately, I'm not the best at composing screenshots, but I've been working on trying to get some good ones over the previous few nights, and these are the ones out of those I took that I believe are pretty good. Just a note - I wasn't sure whether the "2013 Modding Contest" theme meant that the screenshots had to include
only ships from the contest, or I could use other ships in them as long as I made the contest ships prominent. I decided to assume the latter and there are a few retail ships as well.
First off, here's a shot using Shivan Hunter's awesome Europa modular station, as well as the Electron fighters (also by Shivan Hunter).
Secondly, a Duat miner (by Oddgrim) collects exotic ore from an asteroid field while a Mahal (by fightermedic) corvette makes its way through.
Lastly, the Chakra shield projector (by fightermedic) provides extra protection for a small group of Shivan capital ships, while the Beelzaboul drone frigate (also by fightermedic) is ready to provide fighter cover at a moment's notice.
I tried some action shots with the Murugan and the fighters and bombers that were entered into the contest as well, but I didn't get any that I was happy with. To be honest I was only really pleased with the results from my Europa mission, but I felt it would be a bit boring to include three shots of the same thing, so I had the challenge on selecting the one I thought was best.
