Do you often replay re-released campaigns?
If a campaign you liked gets re-released, with graphics updates, bugfixes, or whatever, would you probably play it all the way through again? Or do you not want to sit through a campaign you already played again? Of course, some re-releases (like the voiced AoA Director's Cut) are more attractive than others, but what's people's opinion in general?

I'm intellectually curious if people actually play updated re-releases, and therefore, whether it's worth it for campaign makers to put in the effort to fix up their campaigns for re-release.
"We have now reached the point where every goon with a grievance, every bitter bigot, merely has to place the prefix, 'I know this is not politically correct, but...' in front of the usual string of insults in order to be not just safe from criticism, but actually a card, a lad, even a hero. Conversely, to talk about poverty and inequality, to draw attention to the reality that discrimination and injustice are still facts of life, is to commit the sin of political correctness. Anti-PC has become the latest cover for creeps. It is a godsend for every curmudgeon and crank, from fascists to the merely smug."

Re: Do you often replay re-released campaigns?
I'd play a campaign again if the graphics were updated or there were other noticeable changes (such as bug fixes to campaigns that needed them).

I'm hoping Incursion and Return To Sol get a re-release, I'd love to play them in SCP.

I'm with Rodo on this subject, but the inclusion of voicacting is also a reason why I would play a re-release.

I eventually replay stuff I like anyway, so if it's getting new shiny stuff, that's even more of an incentive.

(now I just need to get myself playing stuff again...)

I'd always wanted to replay the Freespace games, and since I never got to play the first one, I decided "Why not?" and got 'em both. Ad thru the amazing people here, I get to experience a classic with loads of new graphics and bugfixes and what-not.

So sure, if older campaigns are re-released with lots of polish & new stuff, I'd get 'em  too! :D

My sentiments exactly.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again
<MageKing17> "That doesn't really make sense to me, but I'll assume it was being done for a reason."

<MageKing17> God damn, I do not understand how this is breaking.
<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.
<MjnMixael> 2 hours later... "God damn, how did this ever work at all?!"
(...)
<MageKing17> so
<MageKing17> more than two hours
<MageKing17> but once again we have reached the inevitable conclusion
<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<@The_E> Welcome to OpenGL, where standards compliance is optional, and error reporting inconsistent

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.

<IronWorks> I am useful for FSO stuff again. This is a red-letter day!

<MageKing17> TIL the entire homing code is held up by shoestrings and duct tape, basically.

Replaying campaigns requires playing them the first time, so no :nervous:

Re: Do you often replay re-released campaigns?
I've played a few old campaigns, but I've also discovered new ones through the FSCRP. My desire to replay it is generally linked to how much I enjoyed it/wanted to enjoy it the first time around.
