Crizzas Log, 9th May,

My little Cousins 25th birthday, gotta send him a message after writing this.
So...I somehow missed my promotion to Corporal...and still no nickname, but hey, these buggers failed to take of my hand and as reward, I send to of them to the...well, dunno if they have gods or something...lets say I shredded them.
But Jesus...I saw Patriot out of his MEC...this guy is nothing more than a friggin head on a box... went to Command after the medals had been granted...I demanded to not be taken into consideration for MEC duty...if possible, I want to have babies if I survive this whole mess...not some toasters... no wonder Patriot has this burning hatred for aliens...guess sacrificing your humanity turns you into a pyromanic killer, he nearly roasted Ramirez as well.
Speaking of toast and roast... I'm hungry.

Signing off.

Subject: A word about MEC augments

Corporal crizza,

I don't generally interact much with personnel from the other site outside of technical research, but a "mutual acquaintance" suggested to me that there may be some misconceptions in Beta Site about the MEC augmentation process. I'd be the first to admit that the process can be unnerving even for people familiar with it, but some of the rumors that are apparently circulating among some in Beta Site simply aren't true.

First and foremost, the process only replaces the volunteer's limbs- the volunteer's torso remains very much organic and natural save for a half-dozen nerve interface ports that are used solely for operating MEC armor. Additionally, and I even had to specifically point this out to Alpha Site volunteers, post-augmentation volunteers are perfectly capable of romantic performance. With regards to "power trips", our studies are inconclusive, but suggest that the psychological effects are fairly natural and should dull over time. Captain Patriot's apparent pyromania is likely rooted in this phenomenon and is amplified by feelings of "sticking it" to the aliens. Rest assured, the Beta Site MEC Project team and I are carefully monitoring our respective volunteers.

I don't think anything less of you for not wanting to be a MEC volunteer, and from what I've seen you're a great operative. Keep fighting the good fight, Corporal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Vincent "IronBeer" Zokus

Now THAT'S a crossover post. Solid one IronBeer

Tell me some good news Doc?
Quote
I've actually a few things Commander. For starters, our techs have developed a new form of armour with an interesting addition. We've integrated a grappling hook mechanism so that our soldiers will be able to bring themselves to new heights

Quote
Finally, I'll get Engineering to whip a batch of these. It's good to have some survivability for our soldiers... and the next piece of good news?
Quote
The most recent interrogation subject... the Muton... has given us a great deal of insight into their plasma technology

Quote
What are you trying to say Doc?
Quote
With his knowledge... we should be able to field plasma weapons for our soldiers to use within a week
Quote
Commander to the situation room
Quote
Nicely done Doc. Seems like the Council requires my presence...
Quote
Oh, and Engineering wanted me to tell you that the SCOPE upgrade has been completed

Quote
Seems like we're going after another Battleship?
Quote
Looks that way Commander, same country too
Quote
I don't quite understand these aliens and their affinity for repetition...

"Patriot, what's the plan?"
"It's a straight path down the tracks. Snipers take the high ground and cover our approach, and you guys double time it down"

"Look at that, Thin Men, inside the train... way down there"
"They're moving around"

"Additional contacts... calling from Scourge, nine o'clock"

"Damn fine hit Crizza"

"Never know what hit 'em"
"Train Thin Men on the move"

"He's really hustling"
"Hustling hustling hustling..."

"Damn, we're just nothing but luck these days"

"Seems like he's laying in wait, RAMIREZ BREAK HIS ****"

"Train thin man down"
"Track thin man down, good shot Force"
"Hold up... seems like we've got inbound from the battleship"
"Can't wait to sink it"

"New directive, we're going to take them with us"
"Come again?"
"Stun the pricks"

"Ramirez, get close and hunker down"
"WHAT?"
"You'll be fine"

"LIKE HELL I WILL"
"Woops"
"Lead, one just landed right by you"

"Convenient if anything. Make them wish they never got down here"

"...Are you ****ing serious"
"Did we set these things to 'useless'?"
"Snipers, pick them off NOW"

"That's a negative on the one by Ramirez, no shot"
"Take what you can"

"Two down, wait we've got another"

"They're just everywhere aren't they"
"Ramirez, try stunning him again"
"Oh suuuure, send me in for another get-yourself-screwed-mission... and go figure I got screwed"
"Force, would you kindly kill that muton?" This is where I liked the fact I chose +2 damage with pistols

"Targeting Thin Man"

"He's down, but the other is on the move"

"How come I'm the only one to get shot?"
"Shush Ramirez, you're not supposed to have a voice"
"I'll get the Thin man lead. Last time he tries to blow my head off"

"Push up, not much more to go"

"Flash out!"

"By the way, sorry for taking your job Scourge"
"Yeah whatever, you're not..."

"Missed me by a mile"

"God damn, took us long enough"

"Train is on the move, and we're inbound to the Skyranger. Won't be long before we're on that hulk of a ship"

Quote
Mission thirteen report. One severe casualty due to a bad call. Capturing of the targets turned out to have been a failed attempt at best, but at least we made off with one

The team won't have much time before they're sent out again. I've instructed everyone at base to prepare quickly for the next sortie. It's going to be a big win for us

Patriot's Log, Entry 5

A couple of missions of just pure bliss. I got to set **** on fire, torch a diner AND freak out Crizza during RnR.
The look on his face... priceless!

Looks like we'll be boarding another one of those battleships, what's with these stupid alien pricks that they have to try something a second time just to make sure they failed miserably the first time..

Really hope the commander pushes those science types to get that UFO Power Source thingamajig research going, pretty sure it'll help out the MEC project. Saw one of the Alpha boys using a grenade launcher on his MEC, looks sweet. The thing fires Alien Grenades even, which is even better.

Time to inspect my flamethrower again, throwing a barbecue on that battleship when we board it, oh yeah, toast sectoid.. the stuff of legend i tell ya!

"Two additional grey men dropping from above!"

"He's all over the floor now"
"Not bad lead"
"Sparda, get in there"

"Shot wide, Scourge, you got it?"

"Of course I've got it"
"Another one coming in"

"Crizza, your turn"

"Push up to the second target"
"Multiple tangos here"
"We've got the high ground"

"I suppose we can chalk that up to little amounts of practice"
"Taking fire here"

"They're as bad as shots as you Patriot"
"I will burn you Sparda"
"Right... two more sectoids dropping in"

"Crizza, Sparda, distract them"

"Whoa! Where did that third guy come from?"

"He's down now"
"Same goes for the Thin Man over here"

"Zhang got one"
"Who's on the third?"

"Lucky shot Scourge"
"Disable that conduit, split up here. Each trio will have a sniper"
"Incoming Chryss!"

"Shot failed to connect"
"This is why double tab helps"

"Form up"

"Big guy eh? Pleasure to meet you, I'm Patriot, MEC Warrior"

"Sparda, I need you here"

"Two pumps with this and it's still standing?"
"Crizza, finish the job!"

"Zhang here, I've got Thin Man one in my sights"

"Scourge here, Thin Man two is in mine"

"Another Sectoid dropping in"

"Clearly Crizza knows how to take care of things"
"Clearly you need to learn how to use a minigun"

"Thin Man down"
"Push up, we've got the next room to clear"

"I'm in position... firing"

"Running in!"

"Muton! Where did he come from?"
"Sparda, new order... you're going to capture him"
"Wait for me to take this guy out first"

"Lead, sure that's a good idea?"
"We could use his rifle. Keep him disoriented"

"He's throwing a grenade!"
"Zhang!"

"My armour can't take anymore hits"
"Stun him, we'll move in to keep him off you"

"Oh look at the big man intimidating you Sparda... Sparda?"
"OH GOD GET ME OUT OF HERE"
"Well this was unexpected... keep to the plan"
"Lead, I have a shot"
"Hunker down, we're taking this one alive"

"Sparda? You alright there?"
"Can't sleep... clown will eat me"
"Squad, keep it together for a little while yet"

"Zhang you lucky sonuva*****"
"SPARDA!"
"The hell happened"
"You tell me! Stun the prick!"

"Someone forgot about the conduit back there"
"God dammit... get it shut off and let's move on here"

Mission report fourteen. Our troops seem to have an affinity for getting themselves poisoned which isn't doing them any good. Zhang nearly died, but we now have secured the battleship

Commander's Log:

It's a shame we won't be able to use the battleship for much else other than the stripping of it's most useful parts. These fusion bits are most impressive, but I can't see them being mounted on our interceptors. Perhaps we'll have to create ourselves a new mounting platform in order to make full use out of it. I guess in the meantime, we'll continue with plasma research

Speaking of which, had the Council waited just a little bit longer, we could have resulted in a far smoother operation. Conventional weapons are starting to show their end of use with this new enemy in the playing field. We just can't field enough damage against harder targets which is going to be a problem.

Either way, we're making some damn fine progress here.

Crizzas Log, 18 May

God damn it, I wasn't even aware that all of the higher ups read the logs. I thought they were only available in case of death, well, surprise.
Whatever the doc thinks...if I'm not able to touch my potential children with my own human hand, they... don't understand.
Anyways...Septic...don't even know why I got this name, I mean, I was hit in the last mission, but come on, it would fit to a medic...but not to an alien shredding assault girl like me.
The operation went smooth, my sixth and I still have all of my bodyparts.
Killed some sort of flying dish... aliens, you never know what they come up with, eh? Sparda freaked out near the end, but heck, he wasn't wounded at all...
But the doc tells me I have to stay nine bloddy days in medbay...with Zhang...lucky me.
At least my kill tally is nice... 6 mission, eleven kills.
Septic my ass...hope someone brings me some booze.

"Who are these two fine ladies?"
"Looks like fresh blood. I guess everyone else is on holidays"
"Yeah, if you call getting shot a 'holiday'"

"Oversight, squad is on the ground... are you guys getting the feed from this?"
Quote

"Look at the size of this thing..."

"I can't imagine the crew to be too happy about being shot down by inferior technology"

"No, but I heard it... this isn't good"
"Where are they?"
"Just behind the wall" At this point, I was thinking Scourge was absolutely ****ed, but I was apparently the lucky one today

"What? Did it just jump down, then back up?"
"Where's the others?"
"Don't care, kill the bastard"

"Damn fine shot Force"

"Stand your ground... they'll show up"

"Clear!"
"Looks like that's all of them. Had me a little worried"

"Wait... they're outside?"
"A lot of them, Scourge, go check it out"

"...Scourge, get back"
"Yeah, no bloody kidding"

"They just keep coming!"

"Keep your heads down, I've got this"

"Of course you do..."
"Wait for the other two..."

"This pistol does nothing. Why did we even bother? Rocks would be more useful"
"That's why I have a minigun"

"Where's that last one?"
"No idea, fan out" Lots of running around later

"Got something on the other side of this big door here..."

"Just one of those energy guys. Sparda, will you do the honours?"
"Most certainly"

"Chalk up another rifle for us to have"
"Solid job people. Let's keep this up. Oh, and you rookies... not bad Fatima"

Quote
Mission report fifteen. The UFO went down after a long engagement and our team was sent in to secure the site. Surprisingly enough, the resistance was minimal

Commander's Log:

Raven-1 took down something that I would definitely consider an impressive feat. While nothing in comparison to the ship over China, we didn't take that thing down with good ol' conventional firepower. Score one for humans.

Not only that, but our newly equipped plasma weapons showed those extraterrestrial bastards just what we can do with a little effort and determination. If this doesn't strike a chord within their ranks, I don't quite know what will.

Though, the fella in Engineering keeps going on about suspicions being confirmed that they're here for more than just what appears to be ransacking and abductions. That thought troubles me since we don't know the answer to it.

Great, now the pain in my leg is back. I should consider getting it removed...

Patriot's Log, Entry 6

Apparently these logs aren't safe to plan barbecues in anymore, had my license to burn **** removed for the Battleship takeover :(

Although that mission went rather well, only 1 wounded in the form of Crizza, that crazy woman, we did just fine. Troubles me that Sparda started freaking out after a Muton went all "what you gon' do about dis!?" at him, they done it before but this time it worked. Gonna have to have a talk with him about that, specially the freakin clowns, wtf is up with that?

Our interceptors took down a big UFO over the good ol' US of A. My license to kill things with the GREAT FIRE OF ****ING FURY was reinstated, only had to use it once though, and it was outside, so i guess i shouldn't get reprimanded for using it during a UFO search.

Now, time to get drunk as hell. One perk of having mechanical limbs is that you can't tell if the user is drunk until he or she starts talking. Hehehe..
Of course, no drinking on the job, Rule #4 of being an XCOM operative that is.

Simultaneous, and separate targets on overwatch reaction? Both hits? Too badass

"Where the hell are they?"

"...What in the ****"
"Do floaters have cloaking tech!? The hell is this ****! Open fire!"

We managed to stem the tide in Asia, but we're going to need to get some more satellites up

Quote
Engineering has got that covered. Patch me through anyhow, it's time fire up the Foundry again

Commander's Log:

EXALT... their very existence is an affront to the human race. Why would anyone sacrifice their lives and in the process, the lives of the entire planet? It makes no sense! It just doesn't make any sense as to why anyone would actively help the aliens. I could tell the Council had similar sentiments in that regards, their tone displaying that nicely. I've had to kill another human being for my country, but this is different. This is a fight for the survival of the human race, so having to engage against your own kind just... it just baffles me.

There's always sides to a conflict. I just can't wrap my head around why someone would choose to side with anyone but their own in something like this...

Perhaps The_Force will uncover their reasons as we locate the cells. Fanatics...

Quote
Mission report seventeen. This is the first engagement against the EXALT threat. They operate not unlike us and have similar capabilities. They seem to focus more on numbers in order to overwhelm. EXALT soldiers also have little regard for their own lives as seen by their charging in

Commander's Log:

EXALT. An organization hellbent on stopping our efforts with little regards for their own lives provided they were spent keeping us from obtaining our goals for saving the human race. How did these people just decide to betray their own kind? What sort of fanatical drive have they decided to follow? These questions I doubt will ever be answered, but I've instructed Rodo and Sparda that perhaps we ought to try taking one alive. If we're lucky, we might be able to further narrow our search for their Base of Operations or just simply get some questions answered.

On a different note, I'm quite pleased with the progress Engineering has made these past few weeks. Our troops are being outfitted with better gear each time they get sent out and that bodes well for them being able to come home. The unfortunate part, is that they don't always come home 100%

I've need to see what we can do about that... nearly forgot some options in Genetics actually. I think I'll hold off on those until we can get Patriot up to full snuff. Having a bullet sponge (he hates me calling him that) and an intimidating figure (doesn't mind that one) on the field certainly aids in keeping casualties down.

Council is again, pleased with our performance thus far. The funds they've given us is going straight towards base expansion as we speak. Satellite coverage is still something we need so I've made that a priority for Engineering to take care of.

Speaking of which, I've ordered some more Interceptors across the globe and will have them outfitted with cannons. Those things pack a serious punch...

Crizzas Log, 5th June

Horray...my birthday is in five days...and I have to stay in hospital for 14 ****ing days. Lucky me, could be dead as well...not that I asked command for chitin **** to gear up.
That plasma ****gun helped nothing at all when I stumbled into two mutons...
Now those damn rooks are going to outclass me, could as well volunteer for some resreach ****, but guess not while I'm in medbay.
Maybe the doc can put me into artificial coma...he sort of has to do it, or these 14 days are gonna be very bichty...

Wow, you weren't kidding about Scourge.  He just kind of NOPE'd out of existence there.

(Dunno if it's just me, but some of the images in your posts aren't showing up, especially near the end of longer posts.  Your last one just has all of two shots in it.)

Edit: I think it is on my end, because the same thing just happened with NGTM-1R's last post.  Crud.

Scourge's Log:

The shakes are back. Ever since I ran into those two buggy things a couple weeks ago, I couldn't help feeling that I'm a hair's breadth away from getting straight up murdered by these things. The doc gave me some meds to help out, and they do, but... I've also been sneaking out a flask of scotch ('cause I'm classy) in my nifty new vest. A nip in the Skyranger seems to help a huge bit, and none of my buddies seems to mind.
I've been scoring headshots and taking out dudes left and right.

This last mission, we went up against this odd group of guys by the name of Exalt. They are creepy sons of sheep.
Back in the war, I got my share of combat against human combatants, back when all bad guys were just human guys. So you'd think this would feel the same. Every soldier I've known - well, every one who's not a closet psychopath - has trouble with taking the life of another human; we work through it as best we can, and deal with stuff later when we get home.

These Exalt guys though... They feel different. They're BIG suckers, and they may look like regular (big) people, but the way they move is just off. You can look into their eyes when they charge into heavy fire, and you can see it: They're already dead and they know it. To me at least, it seems like they're already part alien.

Whoops, rally alarm. I'll finish this log up when I get back, and probably merge the next mission into it.

UPDATE: OK, no more mixing scotch and anxiety meds. I don't even know.

Patriot's Log, Entry 7

Another couple missions, another couple kills. Man that tally is growing..

Also been promoted to Colonel.

Scourge accidentally all the things in that last op i think, i mean, wtf. One moment he was scooting up the pillar, the next he goes into darkness only to pop into existence when i was about to give up on him and board the skyranger.

Heard about a particularly grim death in Alpha site, man those guys can't catch a break can they..
