The GT@ Titanus

The GTVA has asked the main militery contractors to colaberate in a joint venture codename "Titanus". The Titanus is primeraly a "Frigate" but has the ablity to dock with various weaponary and suply pods, createing a versitile yet highly armed "Freighter", due to the versitility of this vessal it's class is not reconised by standard nameing methords, therefore it is codename "@". This means that it is a hevaly "Armoured, Armed, Frigate, Cargo capable" war ship, or "AFT" for short.

Current pod designs include:

1)   Reactors
2)   Docking bays for extra cargo units
3)   Docking bays for fighters/bombers
4)   A phisical shield containing muliptable turrets
5)   A Nova Array
6)   A Disruptor Cannon (big gateling laser)
7)   Cargo Units
8)   Smalller Transports
9)   Nebular gass tanks
10)   Various Scintific Arrays

Ime not shure about the GT@ thing but i cant think of any thing else.

once ive made the Titanus I will post the Scematics for the two docking bays so people can make there own cargo units and mods for it.

It will have aprox 20+ turrets, and about 5 will be multipart

Styxx and I had an idea to do something like this, a dispersed function modular ship.  Unfortunately, you can only hook one thing onto FS ships.

Thats not a bad idea. Its actually been done in reality in several ways. First by various navies during WW1 and 2 to catch submarines. They would take a frieghter and mount a bunch of concealed weapons so when the submarine tried to attack the frieghter it would be faced with a suddenly very heavily armed ship. They were called Q ships and this idea was used in IWar.
Another variation was the AC-130 Spectre used by the US in Vietnam. They took a C-130 Hercules cargo airplane and added a bunch of sensor equipment and several tons of armor, and then mounted a WHOLE BUNCH of guns down one side of the aircraft. When they found an enemy supply convoy moving at night they would fly around it in a slow circle and all the guns would fire in a continous broadside. The biggest version of these mounted:
(4) 7.62mm Miniguns
(4) 20mm Vulcan cannons
(2) 40mm autocannons
(1) 105mm recoilless gun
It was estimated that in one orbit one of these could put out one bullet per square inch over an area the size of a football field. (estimated 50,000 rounds per minute from all 11 guns.)

Good idea but instead of mounting just one pod how about mounting pod arrays? It would be one object but would give the appearance of many.
