Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
I like most dark stuff and ales. A good pilsner or mexican lager every now and again is great. Other than that, i don't care for see through beers. Ipa's are a little different, they taste the same for the most part. A high quality ipa is nice once in a while for appreciating it (i don't hate ipa's, they've just been way to popular for everyone to over do). I recommend anything that stone makes.

For something great to try if you haven't had it yet is this.

It's tasty.

i used to live across the creek from the brewery. every one of their beers is top notch.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
None of it can hold a candle to Newcastle Brown Ale  :p

The UK has some great small independant breweries that produce some great stuff if your more into ales, stouts and bitters over lagers. But the majority of pubs in this country stock mass produced "Brewed in the UK under license" Australian, German, Belgian and French lagers.

We also have some great ciders too btw.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
@Wobble73 : I'm a big fan of Brew Dog breweries. 5A.M. Saint, Libertine Black Ale and Paradox Isle of Arran are really good.

I was a bit disappointed by most beers available in the UK (even some good IPAs or ales including Newcastle Brown Ale). Something is weird with their carbonation and/or they feel a bit "light", watery. The Old Crafty Hen was decent, though (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/203/45408/).
Nobody knew about Brew Dog where I used to live.

Let's not talk about cider, or we'll face a complete culture clash. (understand how i panicked when I saw cider in *cans*)

I wasn't talking about canned cider (White Lightening, Strongbow etc. :shaking: ) I was talking more like bottled pear cider or even scrumpy jack cider!

Moorhouse is a great independant brewer, (Pendle Witch Brew's are lush). You'll find many great ales in Freehouse pubs or anything CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) related

Such a tragedy:  http://money.msn.com/top-stocks/post--is-america-facing-a-beer-crisis

Not really, craft beers are really the only beers worth drinking from the states.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
We do have some excellent craft brews, though.  Say whatever you want about the American mega-breweries, but do not confuse all American beers with those cans and bottles of urine.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
There are some decent mid-range beers here too.  The local staple Yuengling isn't necessarily anything special, but it's pretty much my default fall-back beer.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
I absolutely love Yuengling Black & Tan and am very sad we don't have it on the West Coast.  A lot of the mid-range stuff is pretty good though, with Samuel Adams and Shiner in there.  Samuel Adams has excellent Oktoberfest and Winter Lager brews to their name, and the standard Boston Lager isn't bad either.  When its on sale, Gordon Biersch stuff is also really good, depending on your tastes.  They have the excellent Maerzen autumn beer (normally spelled with umlauts) and their Blonde Bock is a hell of a summer beer if you like your beers a bit on the hoppy side.

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?

And I don't think they have the best beer. They've got good beer yes, but all the local breweries around my place are pretty damned good

Course, I haven't tried some of the more local stuff Germany has. I'd imagine those to be similar in quality spike

I bet you could have FREDed us up a mission in the time I know you spent adapting this old spice fantasy and marveling at your work but congratulations anyway

What, all five minutes?

I was at work and bored. :P

Anyway, still, not fussed about German beers. I haven't had one that's really stood out. At all.

A multiplayer dogfight mission would take about that long. :p

Less! Drop eight Ulysses, split them into two wings, make them all player ships, winner is when one side is dead. :P

Re: Does Germany Have The Best Beer?
I quite enjoyed a bottle of "Forst" lager or two when I was holidaying in the Italians Dolomites, on the border of Austria, which I believe is a German Lager. (This was when I was sixteen, I am now nearly 41 years of age! :nervous: )
