It's quite possible. The Germans are well known for their excellent selection of beers and I for one don't know why people would sacrifice the flavor of a German Weizenbock over a cheap Pilsner(Too many of these in the US).

To be specific, most of my favorite brews are either from Germany or German styled amber's to dark's.

from what ive had of german beer, id have to say its pretty good stuff. but i usually go for something irish, or sometimes mexican. i end up having to buy redneck beer most of the time because i cant afford the imports.

the other side of it is i dont think ive ever had a beer i didnt like.

My favorites are all either Belgian style IPAs and ales or Scotch style ale from US microbreweries. The only actual German beer I've had tasted like Corona, so I'm honestly not really impressed so far.

German beer is good . . . it's hard to beat a hefeweizen when I'm in the right mood . . .

but Colorado has some good damn beer.

The only problem I have with German beer is that it tends to be light in colour across the board. As someone who "grew up" drinking black ales and stouts, my palate tends to find lagers and pilsners too watery, even when they're proper brews straight from the tap. Sure, you get a few good German ales here and there, but I've never had a German stout that has me going back for more.

That being said, I drink a lot of Australian micro-brews. We have a lot of good pubs in Sydney that brew their own and with the exception of the Nelson's Blood porter I've liked everything I've tried. The porter tasted like coffee but the black ale was AMAZING.

i'll just say that i'm kinda sick and tired of all the german style lagers and pilsners, having effectively grown up on them since thats basically all they sell here in croatia, few pleasant belgian exceptions aside.
after my trip to ireland, there aint **** that can hold a candle to the stouts for me.

I'd say Belgian beers : if you like Trappist style, Tripel or Quadrupel beers, most of them are awesome.
My personal selection (of supermarket beers) is : Kwak, Tripel Karmeliet,  Westmalle Dubbel Bruin... Or even some Hoegarden if you need a refreshing (maybe a bit "industrial") white beer by a hot summer day (I usually take these ones to the beach). In case of emergency, I drink some Chimay Bleue.
If you can get fancy beers, go for : Straffe Hendrik, Saint Bernardus 12, or Kasteel Donker.

Most German beers are lager. Good quality, but "easy" to drink, their taste is not as interesting as most Belgian beers. Though, they have some smoked beers, like the Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier, very good and unique.

Dutch people have the Trappe Quadrupel : it's lighter than most Belgian Quadrupel beers, but still very good. It has become my "party beer".

I also like some Breton spacial beers, as the Telenn Du (a dark buckwheat beer), the Bonnets Rouges (elderberry beer, never ever say it's a girl's drink because it's sweet), and the Chat Malo (a buckwheat, bitter, amber ale).

I like most dark stuff and ales. A good pilsner or mexican lager every now and again is great. Other than that, i don't care for see through beers. Ipa's are a little different, they taste the same for the most part. A high quality ipa is nice once in a while for appreciating it (i don't hate ipa's, they've just been way to popular for everyone to over do). I recommend anything that stone makes.

For something great to try if you haven't had it yet is this.

I disagree vehemently and personally feel that good Belgium beers, such as Duvel, Leffe, or an Arabier, are of much higher quality then anything else in the world can possibly dream of producing.
And don't even get me started on the chocolate!

I wouldn't consider Leffe and Duvel that good (to say the least). They are my average fallback beers.
