Freespace 2 Display error
Hello, I recently bought  Freespace 2 off of GOG and Im currently going through the process of getting everything setup (im using this guide: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=78710.0). After I get everything setup in the launcher I go to run the game and the display is wonky. I seems like a quarter of the display is screwed up and off center. Im not sure why im having this problem. I've installed everything on a desktop and it works fine.

I suspect that what I'm running could be the culprit. Im running FS2 on a windows surface pro (basically a smaller laptop) with windows 8.1, 64 bit OS.

Any suggestions would be fantastic, it would  pretty sweet to run FS2 on the go. I'll also try to grab a screencap of what the display looks like.

Please post your fs2_open.log file.  Instructions on how to do this can be found in this post.

I've also managed to get a screencap of the issue, if it helps at all. I dont have a printscreen button so i had to use ths snipping tool, its not exactly full screen but I think you'll get the ida.

You're trying to run in a 1980x1020 window...what happens if you disable 'run in window'?

Does this happen if you start the game in fullscreen or fullscreen window mode?

Now that's pretty damn weird. This might be the first time I've seen anyone try to run the game on a Windows 8.1 tablet, so I'm gonna leave this to The E.

e: what's your display's native resolution? have you tried setting the game's res to that?

yeah, ive tried running at diffrent res too, the default is 1080p 16:9.

Well, I am pretty unfamiliar with Surface tablets, but here's a wild guess: Is there some sort of display scaling active?

Alright, I feel like an idiot, but that worked. I'm also pretty sure what the problem was for anyone curious. Essentially I had the option 'make items larger or smaller' set to 135%. Which caused problems with the display of the game. So, l believe there  are two options. Either you scale everything down to 100%, or you can just have windows bypass Freespace 2. Which is gone in detail in the link The E posted above. Hopefully anyone else having these kind of issues (which could happen to any game, not just freespace) can be fixed this way.  Thank you guys so much for your patience and suggestions. You saved me alot of frustration, and an inevitable unistall. Time for FS2 on the go!  ;7

Edit: Sorry for the necropost, this issue didn't occur to me until earlier in the year when I swapped to a 4k monitor and I haven't been able to play any FS2 or mod since.
