Sooo, what are you guys working on?

I'm preparing to release my parsing script and ship variant framework, I just need to do some more testing and finish writing up the release threads. After that, I'll probably concentrate on the automated SSM strike script, which is in pretty good shape already.

Re: What are you working on?
mm.. these lights look tasty :). But why did you decide to put those orange bits on the hull?

@Hades. Ha! Finally my predictions turned out to be true :) Your ex Hemera would fit great as TEI Anemoi. Looking forward to see it painted.

Cool, I always like seeing this topic active. :D

Currently, I'm UV mapping two Vasudan ships, this light carrier by Axem and this HTL of Stratcomm's Naunet by Blowfish. I'm also trying to finish up the HTL of the GTI Ceres got BWO, which is pretty close to release ready. :)

Re: What are you working on?
i made few rather small changes to the model (optimization-wise it's still quite bad btw) - but other than that, it's the FSU model, yes
and those orange lights are just placeholder for textures

Re: What are you working on?
Totally did not know this thread existed. Cool!

I'm sort of working on a mod/campaign thingy right now. It shifts between being cheezy-arcadey to being somewhat serious.

First mission solidly done and tested, turned out a good deal harder than I had expected. That was good, I was worried it would be too easy. If you want a short mission with few enemies to be hard, make things happen fast:wakka: Win/lose margin is under 10-15 seconds. Act quickly.

Re: What are you working on?
Nice!

Wasn't the <i can't spell Apophis> some kind of fragile artillery destroyer?

Re: What are you working on?
Aphotess is the name we're using currently on internal, though it was called Apophis before (dunno why the change). It is supposed to be a glass cannon artillery destroyer with a very long range forward beam.

Re: What are you working on?
When was it called Apophis?  It was called Apothess in the INFR1 release.

It's the name on the wiki... must've been the name Stratcom gave it.

Re: What are you working on?
They're two different ships. Apophis was done by Stratcomm after Inferno R1 came up with the Apothess. AFAIK, they're unrelated, except for the fact that the Apophis was better looking by far (not hard with a lot of the early inferno Vasudan ships), so it got grabbed as a replacement for future releases. Otherwise, there's no connection, and the names are coincidental.

EDIT - Wiki seems to think that Stratcomm's version hasn't used as a replacement for the Inferno ship, and that he may have been inspired by it. Still two separate vessels.

Re: What are you working on?
Ah yes, I forgot about that ship.  BW is right; they are two different ships.  Though using the Apophis model as a replacement for the Apothess while still calling it the Apothess is going to make things confusing.

Re: What are you working on?
]since i think my ship model (model of a ship iv been making from memory from one of my favourite games can you guess which game and what ship first and only hint is that its a frigate) isn't good enough for its own thread but i wanted to show my work on it so far (roughly 3-4 hours).

i'm using sketchup (bad program i know but i enjoy using it and then fixing things in blender)
