Since I'm lazy - this is an exact copy/paste from the news post.
I guess the title says it all. As of this day I resign from my position as god, lord of all, lover of the un-loved and keeper of the peace here at HLP. In short, I step down as site administrator. Shrike is the acting head honcho now until he finds someone else to do the job or takes it up full time himself (although it's a lot of work to suddenly dump on him - my apologies and major Kudos to him on taking up the strain without killing me!)
I suppose it was a long time in coming, for the last six months my life has changed drastically - not just college and so on but in other aspects as well. Nothing as serious as Setekhs problems but still more than enough to mean I can no longer give HLP the time and attention a site admin should be able to give it.
Believe me, it's been a real blast taking things from scratch with Setekh and building this place up with the help of the staff - old and new, to what it is now. The community here is second to none and the level of skill shown by the project guys and artists (and everyone else) is so close to professional that it's hard to believe some of you guys don't do this for a living. I want to thank everyone for helping HLP, putting up with it (and me) through the sticky parts and generally being the most interesting, entertaining and all around great group of online friends someone could ask for.
But don't worry (or breathe a sigh of relief in some cases). I'm not totally gone. In quitting HLPs main staff I've given myself much more time to stop worrying about sorting out a site as massive as this and worrying about my own agenda instead. Soon City of Light will be ready for viewing, featuring completely re-done art tutorials and various other bits and pieces (not to mention some of the rubbish about me from SoT). I won't make any promises about when it'll be ready this time - I realise I've been doing that far too much lately and have been kidding everyone and myself. But it'll be ready some day, the ground work is in place and I've got a head full of ideas. I'll also be working with IceFire and Inquisitor to maintain the HLP Beta hosted site for the FreeSpace Source Code Project until VW can take over that position properly. Depending on how things go I may also post news up from time to time, but that depends on the news.
So, I won't be totally out of the community - just taking a step down from the big league. It's been a blast learning so many new things and everything but real life simply can't allow for leading the two lives that I'd need to lead if I was to do justice to HLP from this point onwards. If things improve then my status may change but this is it for now!
With that in mind - from me as HLPs Director - so long everyone, and thanks for all the fish.
