This is a thing I've been developing for.... about two months now. Starting life as a project to bring the Coldest War let's play of Aurora to Freespace 2, the project quickly took a life of its own, and here we are.
Solar War is a campaign set in a somewhat sort of original-ish universe the near future. The story follows the struggle between the Earth Union and the International Federation of Nations for control of Sol, when the least expected occurrence occurs, and they are forced to unite to stave off extinction.

What to expect in Solar WarBranching campaign with cross-mission persistence and losing paths: Okay, well, let's just say this is probably going to be the main feature of act 2, and stay tuned for more and such.
Somewhat new storyline: The storyline will be both somewhat new, and not be set in the freespace universe!
Music: Solar War will feature music. Some of it might even be new music that you've never heard before! Some of it might even be tabled up in the sw-mus.tbm!
Vroom-vroom spaceships: Okay not exactly but you'll get cruisers moving around at speeds between 25 and 90 speeds per time unit and fighters'll pretty much always be over 100 but below 200 does that count? I guess we can call it medium manoeuvrability?
Capship command missions: The full release will have at least two capship command missions. You have been warned. Might even include further command! Fleet command missions? Theatre command? Maybe, we'll see!

Release? An act one (6 missions) is currently in the works, and will be released as soon as it is ready. Yes, I too am going for episodic releases, just like all the cool kids these days. The first act will throw you into the action of the Solar War, before the appearance of the Lapithians.

Teaser trailerAs a bonus for getting this far through the post, here is a teaser trailer. I have no idea why I am posting this, as it's from one of the final missions of the campaign, but eh.
sorry for the incredibly terrible title, I promise the mod itself will be better than the name suggests
