Back in 2006, I was happy to post photos of a new recruit for the GTVA:

That is so cool! (On a sidenote, I got my 8 year old nephew playing Freespace 2 too!)  :pimp: :yes:

My 9 year old daughter saw me playing and asked about it, but I thought it would be too hard.  Time to think again!!
Maybe someday God will give you a little pink toaster of your own.

I, too, have been playing space combat simulator games since I was a youngster, except I was playing WC: Prophecy instead of FreeSpace 2.

Nice. I see she's using a Wingman Force3D, just like the one I had. :) I had to do with an antiquated 2-button QuickShot stick (still had one of those "autofire" buttons) when I started flying, and I was a good deal older than her...

All I can say is wow. I can't imagine I feel as old as you do, what with me not having a child and all, but I do feel old. I remember it being me at that same age, in that seat, with that face, dad standing over my shoulder grinning while I gunned down countless dozens of Vasudans. Give 'em hell.
