If I don't count as non-NW, I don't know who does.

Of course, I only go in there to post my stuff, and don't really look at anyone else's stuff unless I feel like insulting people's artistic abilities. But then, roughly the same goes for every other type of post I do.:D

Anyway: Not bad. I like the consistent color scheme. Though the sun's in the wrong place for that kind of lighting and the station is way too simplistic. Give it some lumpy things and some tubey things, and it'll be all right.

Well, I like it. Its simple yet it looks very good. Not everything needs to be complex to look good. Sometimes simple models are even better then complex ones.

 Good job Riven! :D
I AM GOD! AND I SHALL SMITE THEE!

...because I can :drevil:

Here's another in the early stages of development. Its a Shiane class Super Heavy Carrier and i think you'll agree it's big (look at the lights on the inside of the ring.

Good for a concept, but it definitely needs more realism. Spaceships aren't just a bunch of spheres, cylinders and torii stuck together.

That second one looks too much like a PK command carrier out of farscape, but its a nice peice, all the same.

Needs more geometric detail, however.

Try adding in loads of "fiddly" bits, that gives a very good impression of size.

Thats because it was my inspiration.

Nice pics,

Don't be offended but to me that first one looks like a Vasudan Radio Telescope

  Their version of "Araciebo"(SP?)...

Vasuda Prime: "is anyone out there?"

Shivans: "NO... So where do you live?"
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

Congratulations, that was the inspiration for that image too! It is a very old station from before warp communication was widely available, it is infact a comms system on the wires.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Very nice! The texture style and scale reminds me of the artwork for the Rama books.
