OK, I'm downloading America's Armies and have no idea about what to expect - thoughts?

I d/led it quite a while ago but haven't had the chance to try it out yet but what I saw from the screenshots on the page, it looks beautiful.

Even I am not that uncultured ;)

And I'm inclined to agree with an0n on this. As a game it's nothing special, other packages have done the same thing far better. The fact that it sets out to put across "real" military combat as opposed to the fun style portrayed by most games just lends weight to the arguement that many have voiced about it being a propoganda tool - and one marketed directly at children at that.

They sensationalize middle-eastern and south-american fighting with pictures of kids with guns and stir up the great unwashed masses, then they go completely against their public facade and put out some crap like this.

One of the greatest games I've ever played. It's uber-fun, and it has good graphics. The best part is, it encourages real-life teammwork, so yelling "I NEED SOME BACKUP!!!!" actually elicts a response from your buddies ;)

The only two bad things about the game are that you can't simply boot it up for some quick thrills, you need to WANT to play the game for an extended period of time. Also, the Gamespy crowd sux0rs, so try and play with the internal server browser as much as possible (plus, when you use that, you get a space reserved for you in every open game)
