situation update:

i had to go to the basement this morning, it's pretty much an alternate lunching spot. i had to go there t buy something form a shop there. anyway, if found out that they're aiming a lot better there than at my usual spot: 15 hits, inlcuding a sausage like thingie and a salami sandwich. all to the neck or head.

You guys will probably call me a wus, but your life at school gets as bad as it got for some people who posted here, you should try to move to another school. I know you may think this is shameful and cowardly but this is the lesson I learned. I was incredibly abused in middle school. I was always on the defensive, very sensitive to what everyone said about me. School was basically ruining my life.

I moved just before my freshman year in highschool. I was so amazed that noone picked on me. I made friends immediately. But it took me a long time to adjust. I lost many people I was initially friendly with because I reacted violently to anything that was even a slight teasing.

Middle school left me with significant social problems, and if I would have simply moved to another school in my district I would be a much better and more adjusted person right now.

I also learned that when you're faced with a mob of attackers, violence is never the answer:

One of the kids at my middle school was a mini-Hitler. His goal in life was to have power over the entire class. He picked on people who were weaker to look better than them, he frightened those who were opposed to them, and he rewarded submissive cowards.

One group of people he picked on were immigrants.. especially Russians. He was always saying things along the lines of "Russians are all stupid"... "we should send them all back where they came from"

And when I say that this guy was a Hitler, I'm not kidding..
I saw him lead the whole group of "cool" kids into whipping another guy with sticks till he bled for... get this... telling the teacher that the other kids locked him in the closet. He also picked on my friends horribly. For a whole half a year, one of my friends was targeted at every kickball game and had the ball thrown at him with full force.. for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to anyone.

There were many people who tried to change the system.. but they were outnumbered and often abused as well. Whenever anyone tried to stand up for us, the Hitler would accuse them of being gay and they would be treated just like us.

It was the third to last day of middle school (8th grade) and this kid comes up to me when I'm at my locker and calls me a fag. Just then I snapped inside. I wanted to grab him, shove his head in the locker and keep hitting him until he passed out.

But just before I moved I realized that violence would truly not be the answer:
1. He was popular. I wasn't. If I hurt him, all the kids would probably turn on me.
2. He would have the sympathy of the school, and I was only 3 days away from moving on with my life.
3. If he won the fight, he woudl become even more powerful, and would appear to be even stronger. He could then mess with other kids with no protest.

By simply moving on with my life, I became a better person, got 25 new friends, avoided an ugly situation and basically removed 99.9% of the problems in my life. I hope you will do the same.

Seeing Stealth's love of getting in fights here, I'm dubious about his ability to do so in real life.

Virtu: The backpack/suitcase thing is clearly not the whole issue. It's a handy topic to latch onto, but if it is removes there will be plenty of others. There always are. And running around beating yourself up to comply with a bunch of people who don't actually want you to comply with something, just to give you **** because they're bored and they can, doesn't solve anything and is an extremely frustrating way to live your life.

I used to go around carrying a beat-up old attache 'cos I thought it looked cool, whenever I had few enough textbooks that I could (I have since upgraded to a heavy-duty aluminum Terrorist Case of the kind you see bad guys storing bombs in), and I didn't get crap. Wanna know why? 'Cos at that point nobody was messing with me. When they WERE, two years previous, I believe the primary insult was "sewer-boy", because they'd seen me looking down a culvert once.  Notice something here?

My advice, if you don't wanna just teach yourself self-control, don't wanna abase yourself to please them, and don't wanna fight, is to just wait it out. There's really nothing else you CAN do- you've rejected every solution so far, and you're just gonna get worse and worse ones from here out, 'cos those WERE the good, workable solutions. This thing doesn't magically dissapear right away, and if you're not willing to accept hte disadvantages of any solution, you're just gonna have to settle for not having one and hope your class grows up significantly in two or three years (they won't, if my class is any measure. Hell, they still make masturbation jokes and think girls are gross, except in porn movies.)

You can walk into school/college dressed like Krusty the ****ing clown, but if you've got the right attitude you can get away with it and still be feared. And I know this from personal experience.

If people have a problem with the way you dress, fair enough, they're entitled to their opinions. If they try to mock you for acting or dressing a certain way; they die. Simple as that. Someone mocks, take 'em down swiftly and violently. After you've beaten down a few people with a crow-bar only the complete psychopaths will try their luck and even then they'll still respect you.

Wow, we have quite a fun topic going here. Anyway, I think you guys are confusing two somewhat seperate issues here: whether fighting in general in such a situation is a good idea, and whether kasperl should try to fight in this particular situation. Initiating a fight while being aware that you are no brawler is stupid, but refraining from fighting just for its own sake is equally dumb, so I would say yes for the former issue and no to the other one. If I were in your position I would try to laugh it off and drop in some witty remark every now and then; after a few weeks of that, the frequency of these incidents will probably lessen. (although here it really depends on whether it is a specific gand giving you trouble or everyone you see; the gang goes away with this in my experience, but). That phone call thing is indeed going too far though, so try reporting that to some administrator or someone. I really would not recommend switching to a backpack though, as that will draw much more attention than before since they would then know that you made the change due to their pestering, which would give them added incentive to continue. Of course, there is another consideration; when it comes to fighting, a loaded briefcase makes a pretty good club, so a couple of well-placed swings of that might silence them.

I personally have had some issues with these punk gangs coming up and asking me these weird questions, most of which did not make any sense to me (e.g. "how many times did you masturbate last month?" "ever licked your girlfriend's cum?" etc.), and this went on for a while. My former school used to have these ridiculous "pep rally" things every few months where the entire school went out onto the track area for a festival-like event consisting of loud music, banners, cheerleader dances, staff speeches and whatnot. These things went on for about a hour and a half and there was no choice but to attend or wait in that general area, so I lurked around in the corner of the fence and watched the trucks on the street. I was slightly isolated from the rest of the crowd, making me a prime target. Anyway, after three or four such encounters though they seemed to have gone away and just said hi when they passed by me in the future (I responded with one-word answers and an indifferent/amused attitude, so I suppose they went to someone else who was easier to annoy).

If I wanna walk through college wearing a pimp-hat and high-tops I damn well will. If someone stronger or faster than me starts some ****, I beat them down to such a degree that no-one will even make eye-contact with me for a few months.

If I ever lost a fight I'd engage in a proportional response........on the proportion of about 5:1. The only time I ever got beat down in secondary school (and this was only due to the fact that he had about 15 friends with him. I'm good, but I'm not that good), I found the guy 30 minutes later after we'd both been sent on our ways home and I set fire to him. He never bothered me again. I think he started avoiding me after that.

A guy once punched me for pretty much no reason, so I Judo-threw him on the ground and kicked him in the ribs till he couldn't breathe. THAT is what you have to do. You can either do that once a year and get some respect or get 0wned 365 days a year.

Throughout your life you are engaged in a process of survival of the fittest. You're either a predator or prey. In short, **** them up so badly that they won't be able to walk.

If, after an initiatly mild defensive action on your part, they retaliate, attack their families. I dunno, kill his dog and nail it to his front door or something. If they retaliate further, throw the leader of the pack through a window. If it STILL continues, take my Ultimate Approach™ and go looking for them with crow-bars (soooo much fun, BTW).

I had to put up with some mofo ripping the piss out of me every ****ing day, now normally I wouldn't give a **** because he was just mouthing off and I've got better things to do than beat down some punk, but others took this as a sign of weakness and began trying their luck. So, when he next decided to try and mock me I took a shovel to his face. Sufficed to say for the rest of my school-life only the complete psychopaths or incredibly stupid people dared even swear at me and they knew enough to leave it at that.

Walk through the corridors and don't blink. Don't move your eyes to look at people, move your whole head and do it slowly. And when you do it, don't look AT them, look THROUGH them. Stand up straight. Never stand and look lost. If you don't know where the hell you're going, just look like you do. This'll make you look cooler and stronger.

Its a proven technique - blend in with the crowd.  Atleast until you are 17 or so, then it becomes acceptable to be different, and most people are mature enough not to give you any hassle for it.
