So. Let us discuss the virtues of the PC and the console.

I shall start.

PCs will always be better for these reasons.

PCs can be upgraded
PC games can have mods, addons etc.
PCs have so much more to offer than just gaming.
What are console games made on, if not PCs?
Consoles are infested with cartoony kiddy games.
PC games are (generally) cheaper
PCs have FREESPACE!

Consoles generally have miniaturized components, which are next to ****ing impossible to get normally and are a must for lots of applications. However, their parts also aren't compatible with a lot of things, are more susceptible to soldering-gun burnout, and people throw them out less than laptops.

PCs are good if you want something for a reason that doesn't involve taking it apart and stripping its components for something more worthwhile.

Macs are good if you want something that's like a PC, only slower, without a floppy drive or most other hard formats, uses a mouse apparently made for people who can remember 50 different mouse/keyboard commands but can't get the hang of a second mouse button, has half the good software, can't be properly modified, and compensates for all this lack by having brightly colored plastic. Different tastes...

sure, consoles are all fun and games, but you can use your computer for work too. that's about the only difference there is today...

PCs crash. You need to buy new bits on a regular basis to keep up with games. They're expensive.

Generally, they are both made for different things, but console games that are the cream of their crop (Perfect Dark, Zelda, Mario, etc) generally take the cake most of their PC counterparts.

The thing is, their types of games are different. You don't see mario or zelda or any of that kinda of game really on PC. There are definitly comparible games to those, but they don't really feel the same at all unless they are ported, and then they still have a differnet feel.

And generally, this question is kinda retarded and should be refraised as "what type of game is better?"

What I'd say is that anyone that calls themself a gamer, would not limit themself. The only reason I don't own a Gamecube is because there aren't enough titles to warrant me buying one, though with the new price drop I'm sorely tempted. I don't own a PS2 because my brother has one and it might as well be mine for how much he uses it. I play both my P.C and X-Box regularly and bitterley regret selling my dreamcast. I just can't really understand why some people would want to limit themselves just because they prefer a certain format.

Or at least fabricating something that's compatible. Basically, if you took the read coding off of someone else's Xbox, you could take any high-quality CD player and a basic computer setup and make your own.

Since it's Microsoft, the one-trick pony, I even bet it's got enough of Windows in it that you could do that and have the box run as a regular comp, as well.

actually, that has been done...there was a link over at netwerkin, but I can't be assed to dig it up right now that would turn an x-box into a fully-functioning windows machine.

Basically, get a PC with that kina horsepower for the price of an x-box...pretty decent sounding deal to me...
