Return of the King Teaser Trailer
Apparently the trailer was up for a very short amount of time on OneRing.net before it got taken down.

Of course lots of people downloaded it so it can be found on Kazaa. Okay. It's nothing but a publicity stunt to get everyone on the net talking about the trailer but still it's well worth seeing.

The copy I found was called Return of The King Trailer.mov and was 30,391KB in size.

If anyone finds a better copy I'd be interested in hearing about it :)

As for the trailer itself. It looks excellent. Much darker than the other two movies though.

Yeah. It probably was. Then they pulled it again. It's not up on the official sites anymore.

I hope that RotK is better than TTT...

I'd like to think it isn't going to suck in relation to the books but the other two did so I'm going to take an educated guess and say that it will. Good films but not a patch on the books.

The first one wasn't bad, but the second one :blah:

Not as dull as the books, either.

And no Tom Bombadil. I'm not complaining.

No film will ever be able to do justice to LotR. The book has been voted best book of the last century several times by several different polls. How could a film ever do that justice?

Film in general can rarely do justice to the much deeper storyline that can be told in a book.

On the other hand while they don't do justice to the book they are excellent pieces of movie making in their own right. I've loved both LotR movies and I'm sure I'll love the 3rd (and be in the gang responsible for kidnapping Peter Jackson and forcing him to do a film version of The Hobbit). :D

I know what you mean, I'm not saying I want every single detail from the books in the films, I KNOW that's not possible :) but I don't like the re-writing of certain parts of the film (Faramir's character and the whole Osgilliath part) when it wasn't necessary in any way really. I do think they're great films but I'd like them a lot more if they hadn't been fucked around with plotwise.

I agree with you that in general where the second film strays from the book it tends to get weaker.

That said the Worg Battle wasn't too bad at all and I didn't mind the rewriting of Faramir that much. It only makes the ring more evil and Faramir will probably be redeemed a lot in the third movie.

Meh... I don't really care for any of the alterations they made, cause the movies are never the less based on the books and the main concepts are there! And I stress the word BASED. So they took some artistic liberties and made changes to progress the story on film. Hell, I would have done a lot worse, and not really cared if people liked them or not. :D
I have returned... Again...

I didn't even mind that so much because it wasn't really a change of character, just an extended action sequence. It was the complete change of Faramirs personality that got my goat. To me, the whole point of Faramir is to show that humans can resist the pull of the ring which was lost completely in the rewrite. I was miffed at the whole "lets show the ring to the King of the Nazgul therefore compromising a secret mission" part though cause that was just stupid. It was cool to see Osgilliath though, that's the one thing I think that the films did fantastically because every single location could've been pulled straight out of my head with how accurate they were to my imagination.

What secret did that give away? Sauron knew that a hobbit was carrying the ring already. The appearance of the ring would only convince Sauron that the ring was headed for Minas Tirith. Showing the ring to the nazgul probably didn't hurt the mission in the slightest.

my thoughts are that the films are great films, and the books are great books.  compared, they both lack something (books are long and drag in some parts, the films aren't faithful to the source in some cases.)  Having seen the film first, then reading the book I think Peter Jackson has done a tremendous job, and should be thanked for pulling off something so bloodly hard to do.  And who knows, maybe there's a reason why they changed what they did in the RotK?
