I'm wondering if anyone can do me a favor. I'm looking for background files for Earth, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto to use in FRED. The FS2 Sector website has files for this but they are object files that have to go into the ship.tbl file. I'm looking for images that can go into the star.tbl file because I need the space in the ships.tbl file for MODded ships.

(Besides, I dislike the idea of placing gigantic planet-sized objects in a mission.)

Can anyone help me out with this?

Why can't you just go to the NASA site and grab any of the thousands of planet pics they have there? It's not as if converting a background image takes more than 5 minutes.

Zylon, I think you may have misunderstood me. I don't have any conversion tools. Besides, I'm in law school and I don't have the extra time to convert if I did have the tools. (I certainly don't have time to find or buy these tools and figure out how to use them.) That's why I'm asking the HLP community for this favor.

And so, I ask again, can anyone help me out?

what? you just need to have it as a pcx file, and to have the colour around the planet as pure green. you can do that in paint.

Well, I went to that NASA website and saved some pictures I liked as jpeg files. I guess all I have to do now is convert them to pcx files.

Now if I can only get the damn modified stars.tbl file to work...  

What sort of properties do the pcx files have to have for them to work in FRED? I converted the jpegs from the first website into pcx files, but I thought that they would appear too large in FRED, so I shrank the image. I also modified the stars.tbl file with the new image names but they don't work. They don't even appear in the pulldonn menu in the background editor!

Methinks you are pressing your luck considering that it's widely known at HLP that NO warez discussions are allowed. You've been banned once for distasteful behaviour and we overlooked the fact that you decided to join again under a different name.
