Because we can never have enough Zelda topics....
No, I do know the general trend behind Zelda games, quite well actually.  I didn't say MM was made to appeal only to younger audiences.  It's just that when you have to go around trying to get "happy masks" to complete the story, and when you're doing things like defending milk from bandits, racing beavers for a bottle, or trying to release the funniest looking "Giants" I've ever seen, you do end up with a less, well, mature game on the surface.  Of course, MM was actually rather deep in many, many areas and quite funny at times, whereas OoC was more of a true adventure game, so each has its own seperate strengths.  I still think Link was so much cooler as a 17 year old than a kid, but hey, I don't work for Nintendo.

You, sir, have no sense of fun. I personally loved discovering that the waterfall was climable (complete with psychotic beaver at the top), defending Cremia from the bandits and releasing those cool giant dudes from their imprisonment. I was truly taken when I freed the first giant and he walked off singing - it was unlike anything a video game had ever shown me before. Exploring Termina was one the finest gaming experiences I have ever had.

Since Wind Waker had Ocarina as a bonus, there's a strong belief that the next GC Zelda wil come with Majora...

or one can get the collectors edition disc, that has zelda I and II from the nes, and OOT and MM from the N64.

I'm pretty sure that's the easiest way to get it.

I think a 3d-ified Link to the Past would be amazing... if only someone could convince Nintendo to take it up.

no, it would ruin it in my point of view. Its like the mario games, once they became 3d they just werent as fun.

I don't think that making Link to the Past 3d would ruin it. But to be sure you have to remind me which one that was. ;) Was that the SNES Zelda game? If so, that was kinda groovy. Probably my favorite one of the lot before WindWaker.

Man, I wouldn't mind playing Zelda I and II on my TV again. :)

Link to the Past and Mario World on the SNES are my favourite games in each series. Basically the epitome of 2D gaming. Maybe after Ninty have had the same experience with 3D as they had with 2D when making those, they will make a 3D game to truly equal them.

[color=66ff00]Have to admit that Starwing is still my fav. game for the SNES. Zelda is in the top 5. I also have to proclaim the brilliance of probotector, cybernator and the invincible mariokart.

Starwing did indeed rule. Spent many and afternoon blitzing though it. Managed to finish each route with a perfect score :)

Only last year, though, did I find out how to get to the black hole...

Hurrah!
An honourable mention goes to Super Aleste and Axley.

anyone remember the other "hidden" level in Starwing, where the final boss was a slot machine ?

[color=66ff00]Not here HIG, the PAL version was renamed Super probotector and the two rambo lookalikes were cool robots.

It was contra spirits in JAP/US wasn't it? Anyhow irrespective of title it was a blinding game.

DG: IIRC, during the harder of the two asteroid levels, at the midway point, shoot the right hand huge asteroid. Fly into the birds mouth to see mucho weirdo. It's easier than gettin into the black hole.

Never understood the deal with Contra/Probotector. Maybe the euro arm of Konami just wanted somethin' to do.

I'll assume that "Starwing" was released originally as Star Fox... yeah the "secret" level and the black hole are one and the same.  There is also a wormhole, but that's different.

...ok, so maybe not.  I must be thinking of Star Fox 64... anyway, I always found the secret level harder, simlpy because the harder asteroid level has SO MUCH CRAP flying around when you have to go through the secret level entry sequence.
