Win98SE
P3 800
192MB SDRAM
Radeon 7000 64MB
about a gig worth of pagefile, at least, not certain.

using the 01_20 build i get 30 average instead of 15 with the 12_?? build. i turned vSync of when starting with the 01_20 build.

btw, can the mem usage commnadline be enabled in release versions as well?

They could if someone went through each mission by hand, customising it to use the nebula redux as opposed to the stock nebula.

A lengthy job..:doubt:

I now have a Radeon 7000 and Im currently resolving the issues Im finding with it. With your general low spec you will have to keep some of the more memory expensive options off but I will see what I can do to speed up the engine for you.

thank you, but aside from th loading stutter and some times problems with explosions, or when viewing a (hi poly) fighter from point-blank range i get a solid, constant 30 FPS, and that seems quite enough most of the time. i might want to add i most times start a mission with about 60 meg tex mem free, and en it with 6-20, but the first only in extreme cases. (tested in the first three main camp missions)

turing off vsync does lower visual quality

Maybe if it was larger and more whispy.

And I wasn't used to the tourquise afterburners at first, but after a while I started to like them too.

Not turning on vsync may reduce quality a tad, but it's not noticable enough to not turn it off if you don't have a powerful system.

I have it on ;)

True, but if you remember the originals are all different - and there's a lot less of them than there will be new ones at this rate.

Not at all, NotePad can do miracles. So start contributing examples and background compositions (as missions).

I've already promised to go through the campaign and update it, and if you do some backgrounds compositions while the sets are being finished, this will not take long at all. This is your chance to help the progress of this. Bundling to one or two screenies + Mission file appreciated. :D

This is amazing stuff. If you plan to make light blue and/or sea green sets similar to these, I will definitely use them in the PI missions.

Notepad allows you to change the bitmap filenames quickly but would there be any actual repositioning required? That would be a bit difficult to do in notepad.

Hrm... I'd have to get back into Fred... and I've never used Fred_Open... would using the stock tutorial as a refresher be appropriate even for Fred_Open? I already manage the list, but as of now it isnt taking a whole lot of my time, all though other things are. I admit I could dedicate sometime to this, tho.

LS, if you can get me exact rules on what to change (like what set of names to what new set) i could write a QB program for it, so it'll go through each camp file and throw in a new composition of your choice. i'd  have to know pretty presise where the exact text is.

The differences between FRED2 and FRED2_Open are fairly easily picked up. The walkthrough is a good guide to both.

I expect I've mentioned before that Light rules. Although Phreak's effort also rules, in a somewhat different way...
