I highly doubt I'd be able to get enough precision with hand tools and a drill press to be able to make a good quality lathe
in fact, often its more expensive to try to build one from raw materials.  Unless you have access to a high-grade junkyard where you can salvage parts from

Mito [PL]
the hardest part would be the "table" everything is on itself
because well, nothing can beat a ton and a half of strong steel shaped for the purpose

z64555
yes

Mito [PL]
Actually, seasoned ton and a half of strong steel shaped for the purpose

z64555
seasoned? what, you added spices to the metal?

How so too big? Every mission takes place an unspecified amount of distance away from a sun.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

If you don't like glare shots that much, here's something a little different.

A completely unrehearsed shot. That lightning bolt just decided to show up just as I hit COMMAND + SHIFT + 3. :D

I got the shockwaves form DaBrian in a thread dated back to around 2005. I remember that DaBrian released two different colour versions of them, Orange like in my picture and blue ones. I think I still have the .rar files for both on my computer. I will try and hunt them down.

In the meantime...

Why are there asteroid-like dust particles in your nebula?

Motion debris.  Those little things that fly by the camera as you move.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Yeah I know what they are, but they're using the normal dust ani/eff instead of the gas ani/eff. Which is odd, seeing as how it's in a nebula.

Could be the early formations of a planet... Considering how unrealistic FS is anyway.
