Welll, we all know Bobboau is working a 'material system' thal allows the use of pixel shaders for material.

A post process filter probably won't be a problem. You can find a lot of glow shaders with google already. As soon as the support is complete, we'll probably instantly get rid of the clipping problems.

I'm quite confident those SW pics would look a lot better if those lasers were a lot shorter. Lasers don't really need to be 10-30 meters long, some looks to be even longer than that.

that also means the prospect of using pixel shaders for other lighting effects, too..

I only got around to looking at this thread a few hours ago. Am I the only one who instinctively ignores all the sticky threads and skips down to the normal ones because the majority are never updated?

Anyway, there is some amazing stuff in here, a great exhibition of how far the community has come since FS2's release. I don't have a whole lot to add, but here are a few generic shots from the main campaign and my own missions that show off some of the FSO specular lighting effects. I wish I could get that superbright effect to show up on these. It makes a huge difference with this game.

Not to be a pain, but could we possibly look into gettiong rid of some of the Red Xs on the early pages of this thread? I use it when I pimp FSO on other boards, and it'd prolly be nice if anyone who clicks on it doesn't have to wade through two or three early, more or less empty pages.
