FMA does my head in.......but that's just me. Getbackers also gets on my nerves.........

I would also recommend Scrapped Princess along with the now classic The Vision of Escaflowne (using the full title).

[color=66ff00]Anyone else think that Princess Mononoke was terribly average considering the hype?

As for crap like Bible Black an0n, I watched a bit of it once, it made me uneasy how anyone could approach that kind of subject matter with such ease and zeal nevermind the content of the actual show.

BTW can someone easily differentiate betwen Manga and Anime for me? The two terms are often bandied about.

not really. it's mainstream and severly overappreciated.

If you liked Evangelion, get ahold of Rahxephon and watch it.  It has a distinct lack of angsty 14 year olds.

I'm not much into Anime, however Excel Saga (not sure what the Japanese title is, though it is the Japanese subs I've been watching) is fantastic. I haven't laughed so much for ages.

I've mainly caught fairly mainstream anime, such as Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and Neon Genesis Evangelion (which I, too, have a low opinion of).  For more obscure series, I've started watching Full Metal Alchemist, and I just finished watching Samurai Deeper Kyo, which was rather interesting.

Anime sucks! :p Okay, its not all bad, those annoying kiddie shows turn me away from it. I've really only seen Last Exile, and that was pretty good in my opinion.

About macross zero, I like it ( even tho the end is a bit... well, unexplaining, if that word exists... ),

Yeah, I thiought it was barely decent for plot. I don't think it fits the Macross series very much either. The original Macross concept was borderline sci-fi, but Macross Zero jumps over into fantasy/mysticism.

I've noticed that with another anime done by the studio that made Macross Zero, Earth Girl Arjuna. It was a series with pretty good music and animation but wasn't very sci-fi and had more of a fantasy, nature-mysticism theme.

What I'd like to watch is an anime that put as much effort into superb action animation like Macross Zero but keeps its focus on sci-fi and technology.
