Nexus : The Jupiter Incident...
I have fighters?!?!?   I can't find anything resembling a  launch control system.

I tried turning the missiles to auto but nothing seems to happen, also it's so dark(there's no gamma control) and I can't see much besides the weapons unless I get very close.

there is supposed to be a lot of unit icons in the left part of the screen, these are your units, look just below a ship and see if it has 3 small ships, these are fighters, you just select them and do with them as you wish.

Hmmmm... You're playing the demo aren't you? I would have thought you still would though, you're kind of stuffed without them. Can you load up your ship before battle?

I can't do anything except fiddle around until I trip the Gorg sensors, not a damn thing.  I paused it and proceeded to hit everybutton on the keyboard and I got a couple of "Yes sirs!" on the ones I know what they do, but I couldn't find anything that mentioned fighters or changing ship equipment.  It's a fairly lousy demo, even if the full game is better.  I read the readme that came with it, but their isn't a key map that I can use to help me play the game.  It sucks.

Don't worry, the printed manual isn't much better, I've just always had a 'knack' for picking up programs fast.

It's interesting you are fighting Gorg, in the main game, you are against another corporation. Are you in the Angelwing ship or the Stilleto?

As for equipment, if it's there, it's before you enter the battle, at the map screen, along the bottom there are a selection of icons, one of the should be a screwdriver and spanner, which allows you to load your ship, on the screen it goes to there will then be a button marked 'configuration'. That (if it exists) will let you set up your ship. Also, in that screen, there is another button marked 'Squadrons' or somesuch, where you should be able to choose some fighers.

I don't get a mapscreen before the mission starts, the mission starts with me looking at one of the less than useless frigates.  There's not even a configuation fire that I can use to adjust stuff like gamma.  Did they release a patch for the demo perchance?

Meh, sounds like a sort of 'Technical Demo'.

Yes, there was a patch somewhere I seem to recall, one sec.....

Edit : N/M it was the multiplayer one.

I got it off gamershell, I'll try the one from the official site.

Now that I've read a bit more about it, I've remembered that I don't really like this kind of game.  It sounds like it's more simulation, less action(which the useless weapons reinforce).

I'm going to try the demo a couple of more times, while Episode 6 of Gundam SEED Destiny finishes downloading and then it's gone if I can't make any thing happen other than watch my ships be killed by an untouchable enemy.

Heh... Feburary came early for me :p

This game is pretty sweet, it can be a bit irritating at times, and i was also hoping for a more IG like game, with actual ship building and all that jazz, but its cool.

Another thing that bothers me tho, is the unability to move somewhere where there are no objects to move to.

I love the physics though, didnt think id like the way the ships moved at first but god it's beautiful watching those guys dodge attacks with the brilliant use of thrusters.
Put this in your profile if you know someone who is fighting, has survived, or has died from an awp no scope.

That demo sounds like the tech demo from 2003, the real demo has you defending an outpost.......

Hold down shift, move the mouse, release shift. Not very precise, but it does the job. Another thing that takes some people a while to figure out: Ctrl click selects multiple ships. Cant have groups of just one ship, and you cant make groups of fighter wings. Pain in the ass when you have a ton of fighters.

I am defending an outpost.  After several hours I found a walkthrough that told me how to get more firepower in the form of 2 destroyers and a battleship(named the Colossus coincidentally, too bad it didn't die as nobly) The battleship has a thing called a Fortress Shield, I'm supposed to move it close to the station and leave it alone, but my destroyers got pwned and I died shortly there after.  I don't think I am tactical enough, the damn thing is almost turn based.

On a side note I also played Haegemonia: LOI, that was a class A game. But the ending movie was a cliffhanger! I hope they make a number 2 so we can find out who that other alien race was.

24 missions..I think...

Armament and actis is really important.

My advice:
Arm the destroyers with as much either anti-shield or anti-subsystem weapons. Anti-subsystems are actualyl even better in my oppinion.
the cruiser and battleships should be packed with atni-hull (and anti-subsys or anti-shield. depends on what you put on the destroyers. Put the same thing)

As far as weapons go - the ones you get at the end are....well..HUGE.
You have missiles that make a explosion so big, that even when you zoom out max you can barely see anything.
Those missiles/torpedos can engulf a whole fleet and remove all shield for several seconds, or causemassive hull damage.

------------
How to beat the Demo:

Send one of your frigates at full speed (put all energy to engines and shields) towards one of the nav points. Choose the one that's as far from their ships as possible. Once you get close to the nav point, activate the IP drive. A battleship and a support ship should jump in. The "great" Admiral Norbank (you'll see him plenty inthe game) will run right into hte minefield and the battleship will get disabled. Just bring the support ship close and as soon as the battleship is up, send the support ship toewards the base, so it can activcate it's Fortress Shield.
Once the shield is up, just retreat inside the shield, and the enemy is toast...

The Battleship is the Wolverine, the Support ship is the Colossus, and you "only" get them as support. the battleship is kick-ass powerfull, THE ship in the game. the support ship can carry a ****load of fighters, can help repair ships faster and can project a spherical Fortress Shield (you need heavy weapons- LOTS of them to bring it down, and your ships can enter the shield and keep fireing at the doomed enemy outside).

Click the little hand icon in the bottom left and you will get a pannel with all your subsystems.  This is 'manual mode'.  Very handy, from here you can select what range you approach a vessel, what weps to target what ship and engine type.  The pannel on the left indicates power allocation.
