The Commissioner fears the 25-nation European Union will be going the same way as the United States. "We made fun of Americans in a way. It is a European problem now," Kyprianou said in an interview with London's Financial Times.

True, you guys may eat less of it than us (according to the article), but one out of every four? That's still a lot :p

Lol! :D

But at least the EU is taking it seriously. I've yet to see something happen in the US where obesity is making this look like a slim blonde on coke with anorexia.
I AM GOD! AND I SHALL SMITE THEE!

Don't remember the exact numbers, but you're still in front of us by a large margin :p

**** it, let natural selection take its course I say. If people are really that incapable of controlling their own weight then they deserve to become fat, slow and incapable of breeding.

Alternatively, ship half the food in Europe over to Africa and even the balance out. I'm sure there are a lot of starving nations in those areas that could do with it.

I say we brand fat people with the cause of their fatness; i.e. 'lazy' or 'stuffs gob', etc.  With the exception of fat people who are actively trying to lose weight, because that would be unfair.

*laughs at fat people who blame their fatness on the corporations*

If you take it all with a grain of salt, it's actually sorta funny in a sick way :)

Its odd but every time I go across the border into the US....the size of the people there increases.  The average size.  I mean, some people are just as slim as I'm accustomed to...but its really rediculous sometimes.  I think to myself, these people I'm seeing aren't just a little heavy, or the type of bigger boned person that you run into (those people arent' necessarily fat either)...these people are enormous...it interferes with their ability to move...nevermind walk or run.

Yeesh.

I agree, I travel to the mainland occasionaly, and I go from a mostly fit, 95% black population, to a mostly fat/anorexic 99% white population.

It's just strange. You either get the huge people who don't really care that they can't fit into bus seats, or the anorexic people who think that unless they fall through the cracks in said bus seats, no one will even look at them.

Think the figures for the US are something like 2 out of 3. Interesting how recently joined countrys have the worst problem, you'd have thought they'd be better off.

The numbers from the CDC about American obesity were off. Also, the 2 of 3 is overweight, not obese. Obesity is far lower, at approximately 1/3.

What the vast majority of people fail to understand is that there is a significant difference between being overweight and overfat.  Weight number by itself doesnt tell anything as far as how fat a person is.  Hell, I weigh 380 and I have tons less fat than most 300 pound people I know.

Plus, the taller, and bulkier you are, the more body fat your body demands.  I also always hate it that across the board, 5 pounds is considered vanity pounds.  Reality check, for a person my size, vanity pounds are more around 15-20 pounds.

I also hate the Olsen twins.  That doesnt really have any relevance to the topic, but just thought I should bring it up.

muscle is heavier than fat, a well built person can weigh as much as someone much bigger mass wise than them. That said 21 stones kinda big :p

I hate the fact that I've never, ever heard the expression "vanity pounds".

Oh wait, no I don't.
