Heh, the gantry structure?
I built a tower of a basic cube at the basue and beveled it up in the shape I wanted...took about a minute...then I went to a second layer, used the background as a template and made a series of verticle posts on one side...4 sided...took about 30 seconds...then I made horizontal crossbars...like 5 of em...about another minute...then beveled out the ends of the crossbars (Selected all at once so it was one smooth mouse movement) into the diagonal crossbars.
then I had one side of the gantry..I copied and pasted and moved that 3 times till I had encompased the tower in the background.
THen I copied that layer over the background so I had one building with a gantry system around it...then I copied that whole building and pasted about 16 times and deformed them all and moved em around, till I had that shape...painted the whole thing a gloss white with mild reflection and some fresnal effects.
Took about half an hour all together to make the gantry systems for the tower...

Hope that helps...
Rob
PS: Took longer to make the shuttle then the rest of the scene put together(except the lighting and animation sequence), the shuttle took a little over 2 hours.
PPS: there are about 220 volumetric lights in thise scene...no lens flares...and a lot of hypervoxels and emitter effects...took awhile to set up the animation to get it to look like that...would have made an animation of it, but it was taking too long per frame to keep my interest
