Ah well. If people can't drag themselves away from a screen once in a while, then they shouldn't even be allowed to have access to a TV, let alone the internet.... :blah:

Ah well, whatever floats his boat I guess. Nobody said that broadband was a necessity when browsing the internet - it just makes it easier. Especially for the likes of us who might download a game mod or a lot of artwork or whatever.

As for me, I do download a lot of high-resolution artwork, play online games and what have you. I have a use for broadband. I'm sure as hell not about to feel guilty about using it.

Besides, I think I can safetly say that I'm the only person here with a home connection that has a ping of "3" :p Fear my mighty penis extension. If I've got it, I'm going to put it to good use.

The broadband that is.. well, and the penis. But that's not what this is about.

well i can see where he's coming from, and if i were in his shoes i'd probably do the same thing.

i mean what do we all use the Internet for?  Games, and P2P... right?  i mean that's all we need high-speed internet for really, and those are two things he doesn't do, so why should he need broadband?  it seems like a sensible thing he did.

Oh, I did forget to mention my greatest issue with dial-up.. it's just that. You need to wait to dial in - and it's not a garunteed connection at the best of times (if the dial-up server is busy etc.).

I rather like the fact that I'm consistently connected.

see what bordedom does to me?... Its a terrible affliction, though sadly no cure has of yet been found.

He should be downloaded more trailers from Apple - I love broadband for that alone, never mind the faster spamming um posting, email, uploads to my server, and general all-round goodness...

As for P-to-P, I never bother - I have DVDs and CDs at home...

I really wish that I had broadband rather than 56k. It's so slow trying to download just about anything at all.

And here I am, maybe getting broadband at last for my Dad. Maybe I'll even be able to hop onto Xbox Live. ;)

If I had broadband, I could use the 3 x 2 Months of free Xbox Live that's been amassing in my drawer. :D If only....

Sometimes I wish I had 56k. Because I'm not getting ANY band, much less of the broad variety. :doubt:

But by and large I like it whenever I have to upload/download any significant amount of data. These days, that's pretty much any webpage.

What annoys me about that article is that what he says is true, for the most part, for me. I do the same thing, except with forums instead of news sites.

However, since I plan to code games, the online games are research, and I need a phat pipe for that stuff :p

Cable - it's been unreliable lately, though. It's gotten better since yesterday.
