so my question is...if someone wants to do something with the hades...where do you point them?  cause it didn't appear in either campaign.  Neither did the Ganymede.

If I may offer some advice, go by fred, not by your memory.  I am not trying to sound rude, but if you do this, then the vets won't have to clean up after you when you make mistakes.  You're new, and wanting to do things, and that rocks.  But be patient, and learn to do them right, and learn to do research before you do things.  You'll find a much warmer crowd at HLP, and you'll know what you are doing and talking about.  It's a good system.

It's also always a good idea to post potential entries here before updating the Wikipedia.  This community's knowledge of the Freespace universe could probably fill several books, and it's an indespensible resource for this type of work.

As someone above said, Wikipedia is a general knowledge repository. It should not go into detail about what's in the campaign files, FRED, or the like. It should say what's used in the main campaign.

Notice my wording: I used "universe" for a reason.   Such a snappy answer for a guy who missed the Meson warheads...and I thought you wanted help?

Excellent Wiki article

But ship list is still incomplete   Missing some FS1 ships: SF Scorpion, GVB Amun, another shivan bomber (don't remember the name)

SB Shaitan?

I have to be honest, I'm not sure what the benefit of having a ship list is......

I don't want every ship being listed for FS1 and FS2 because they're in FRED.

These people are trying to help you. You cannot begin a ship list, and then only include things you feel like including. That's lazy, and irresponsible.

That said, It's the PVB Amun, not GVB, just to clarify the post made by another member.

if the wikipedia is for general use, why have the specifics of which ships are available only to the campaign?  maybe that information doesn't belong in there at all.  Maybe it belongs in the Freespace wiki

Well, that's my point. If you are going to actually include a ships list, though, make it complete and accurate.

Currently, the FS wiki isn't even accurate. People keep adding fluff to the pages and making thins up as they go along.

And yet, when I go to add relevant and useful information, I can't edit a page for anything.

The ship list has some notable omissions, namely the Anubis and the Scorpion.  I could be wrong, but I think the ****an is missing too.  But I still say that it doesn't belong on the Wikipedia.

It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Shaitan....not ****an (****tin?)

And i didn't realize that this had turned into a flamewar, if i had you can rest assured either Raa or I would have locked the thread by now.

I think that because it seems like we are not giving the expected advice, but instead advising you into a new direction, it seems that we are flaming you.  We aren't.  if there is one thing i can say HLP, it's that no one ever says "No (insert name), tell us how you REALLY feel."  Because we will tell you how we really feel the first time.  I don't agree with what you are doing or how you are doing it, but at the same time, I won't try to stop you, I will however try to guide you, as will the rest of the people who answered this thread.  Trust in the fact that we are not flaming you.

You are new, and your knowledge is base.  You have a strong base of things Freespace, but you are missing a few key points of knowledge.  That's all we are saying.  I know how easy it is to read something with an angry voice, when in fact it was not written with one...i make that mistake all the time.  Go back and reread without hearing anger in our words, and you may see where we are coming from.  :)

What, I can't be to blame if I'm to lazy to look up how it's actually spelled :p

I'm just trying to say that Wikipedia isn't a resource for FREDing, therefore it should only list which ships actually exist in the main campaign, not hidden deep in the data files (GVFr Bes, I'm looking at you).
