So... who watched the latest Dr Who? I didn't used to be a fan of the old show (I watched the episodes but that was it) but I've started to really like the new show :)

Gotta say I can't wait till next week. They're pushing the fact that the Daleks are back pretty hard. Just caught an advert on BBC1 and it's still a week away.

I don't think it has to be honest.

Dr Who is a quintessentially British sci-fi show. Basically that means that Americans by and large won't get it. In fact I can already hear the complaints about the CGI, realism of weapons used etc from the "culture of Bash" people already.

To be frank the 9 million or so British viewers couldn't give a toss. The show is great TV entertainment and that's all we care about :D Similarly if you don't know what a Dalek is you'll never get why an overgrown pepperpot on wheels is one of the scariest bad guys in British TV. :)

Me neither. The cliffhanger last week left me wanting more but now I'm actually getting excited every time I think about what's coming next. About 5 seconds into the Next Week teaser I was already getting an inkling about what the enemy would be. When I saw that guy get skeletonised when he was zapped I knew what we were dealing with :D

Funny thing is that even though the episode was great all everyone is going to be talking about is next weeks episode :D

Yeah. I figure that anyone who gets British humor will probably get Dr Who too.

I'm so glad I caught this series from the beginning, it seemed under-advertised as if they were afraid it was going to fail..  But it's been pretty damn good every time, and the odd funny moments just make it better.  I can't wait for the Daleks now!

Is it available via 'other' means?

And is it a violation of policy to ask if a show unavailable in once country is being 'streamed' over the torretns?

[color=66ff00]Nah, it's not a voilation to ask if it's being torrented but it is to ask for the torrent file itself or the location.

Red Dwarf beats Dr. Who's ass into the ground and then some. One of the funniest television moments of all time was seeing the Grim Reaper get kneed in the balls.

Perhaps, but Dr. Who holds a special place in my heart, as do the Daleks, since I can remember watching the original long ago when I was about 5...curse American television.

It's a completely different thing.  I love Red Dwarf as well, but Dr Who is, well, special...

I agree with Clave. Red Dwarf is a comedy with sci-fi elements. The writers themselves baically described it as Porridge in space.

Dr Who on the other hand is a sci-fi show that doesn't take itself too seriously. As such it can be very funny in places but the main element is the sci-fi.

As for the Daleks everyone agrees that they are THE Dr Who enemy. That's why after years without seeing anything new with them in everyone is waiting with baited breath for the next episode.

Who got the "Massive Weapons of Destruction that can be launched in 45 Seconds" joke?  and the "Oh Bol-" line from the Slitheen was just perfect.
